A nice June day here yesterday at Lochter. Once the wee shower passed the fish showed they weren't bothered by the hailstones and came alive and went daft on dries. Wee dries continued on the menu today, at least until the thunder appeared. Cheers Brian

Nice start to the day for Jim Farquhar over on muckle. All lochs have been fishing really well with anything from tiny smokers on top to the good old Ali mcoist with everything in between. Water temps nice and stable at 61 deg f. Cheers Brian

Evening pics here at Lochter Fishery, sent in by Dave who will be in the next couple of days since I'm off chasing silver. Good catches today on dries despite the bright skies, must mention Arthur for smashing his record the other day. Water temps have gone up not surprisingly with them hitting the 60 deg f mark for the first time this year. Its more important than ever now to make sure fish are returned in a proper manner - keep the fish in the water and do not handle them, ensure they are brought to the net as quickly as possible to minimise stress levels. Cheers Brian

A game of hide and seek by the look of it with one of our new cygnets and the osprey doing his thing, I’m running out of superlatives for the quality of the pics from Les Park, I wish I was half as good with the rod as he is with the camera.
water temps on the way back up again and some settled weather at last, evenings really taking of now with wonderful rises and subsequent catches on the dry, quick mention to Peter Cowie and young Luke ( I think peter may have given Luke some tips - or maybe the other way round ).

Cheers. Brian

Near miss there for Robert, he almost said a bad word. Great to be getting lots of surface action now the cold wind has gone. Water temps nose dived at end of last week, down to 48 deg f but on the rise again now. Cheers Brian

Jack there with a pic of his first fish well done young man and Dave there with a lovely broonie. Chilly wind back on the scene but should calm down in the evening again. Note there is a road closed sign at the oldmeldrum junction but you can easily access lochter from oldmeldrum side. Cheers Brian

Nice start to the day. Weather a bit more settled today and that cold edge to the wind not nearly so bad, getting plenty surface activity from first thing, shipmans, f fly getting lots of takes then the Ali mcoist also working just to mix it up. Water temps now stabilised at 52 deg f following that frost on Wednesday morning, expect a good rise again tonight. Cheers Brian

It may have a scorchio day today but this wee lad beat the odds with his first fish. Reminder that the muckle troot will be closed tomorrow to the public, the other lochs open as normal. While I'm at it also a reminder that the pipes placed around the lochs are either for used nylon or holding nets not for any form of litter. Cheers Brian

A fiesty one there from the muckle -- just to advise that the muckle will be closed to the public this coming Saturday the 25th. Both the other lochs will be open as normal. Cheers Brian

Another cracking pic there from Les, our resident bird taking one for the table.
For your info we have selection of flytying materials here for you at lochter to have a look through next time your out as you can see from the pic.
Some cracking catches just now, mention to Arthur for almost breaking his record, if his wife had been another 15 mins in coming to pick him up I’m sure he would have succeeded.
Water temps dropped off again into the high 40’s with these cold winds we’ve been getting, making buzzer hatches pretty sporadic but those sussing out the depth the fish are working at are doing very well.

Cheers. Brian
