4,500km. 99 days. One ultramarathon every day.

On 25 April, Georgie Baker set off from London with a goal to run all the way to Asia.

Just months before, a bone stress injury had forced her to stop running for months. But she decided to still give it a go, taking each day as it came and wearing ENERTOR insoles along the way.

Then came illness, heat exhaustion, a painful rib injury, mountains, panic attacks and plenty of moments of doubt.

But she kept going. One day at a time.

We’re so proud to have supported Georgie on this incredible journey with our insoles. Her verdict? “Honestly awesome.”

Georgie ran to raise money for the Blue Marine Foundation, helping protect our oceans. :ocean:

4 habits GB runner Jack Kavanagh swears by to stay injury-free

1. Change up your running surfaces - Mixing up your running with road, trail, grass and track sessions can help reduce the repetitive stress on the body.

2. Invest in good shoes and insoles - Jack rotates his shoes and uses Enertor Running Insoles for extra support and cushioning to help him manage a high training volume.

3. Keep a training journal - Tracking how you feel after every session can help you spot fatigue and niggles before they become bigger problems.

4. Stay honest with yourself - Listen to your body. Sometimes the smartest training decision is knowing when to back off and adapt a session or take an extra recovery day.

Small habits can make a huge difference when it comes to staying healthy, training consistently and performing your best.

PRO TIP ⬇️
Lay out all your gear at home before you rack your transition bags and take a photo. A visual reference helps you either repack confidently the next morning without missing anything or reassures you that you have everything when you start doubting the night before race day and you don’t have access to the bags.

Label or mark your transition bags clearly - in a long-distance race with a large field, the transition area is chaotic. Take a photo of where your bag is in transition/ on the rack so you can refer to it pre-race while you are nervous.

Work back from when the race starts to find your race morning timings and prevent undue stress.
1. How much time before the start do you need to be in the start area?
2. How long does it take to get from transition to the start area?
3. How long will you allow for a portaloo stop and putting on your wetsuit?
4. How long will you want in the transition setting up?
5. How long is the journey from your accommodation to transition?
6. How early do you need to wake up to make these timings and eat your pre-race breakfast?

Planning this all out will prevent un-needed stress and drama come race morning.

Coaches guide to a 12 week training block:

5k ➡️ 5k -> 8k (for total beginners start at Couch 2 5K)
10k ➡️ 8k -> 13k
Half ➡️ 12k -> 19/20k
Full mara ➡️ 20k -> 32k
(An absolute novice -> longer program needed or 13k ->26k)

The 30% Rule: Your long run should never be more than 30% of your entire week’s total mileage. E.g. If your long run is 10 miles, your weekly total must be at least 33 miles. Going over this ratio leaves your body too fatigued to recover before the next workout.

The 150-Minute Rule: For amateur athletes, the optimal window for aerobic enzyme adaptation peaks between 90 and 120 minutes. 2.5 hours the rate of muscle tissue damage and cortisol release spikes exponentially.

The Recovery Week: tendons and ligaments adapt much slower to running stress than the heart and lungs. Dropping mileage every fourth week or so is scientifically proven to prevent overuse injuries like shin splints and tendinitis.
