Founded in 1856, LGS Stoneygate is an independent co-educational day school in the Leicestershire countryside.

Educating ages 4–16 from Early Years to Senior School, we offer small classes, strong pastoral care and a nurturing, family-centred environment. We are located in the rural setting of Great Glen in Leicestershire. The key to our success has been our dual focus on achieving high academic standards through properly structured and resourced lesson time, whilst providing extra curricular opportunities in the performing arts, sports and other leisure activities.

πŸŒπŸ“ Geography came to life for our Year 8 pupils as they headed into Leicester city centre to investigate the impact of regeneration on the local area.

Visiting four locations across the city, pupils conducted observations, surveys and interviews with members of the public, gathering valuable primary data to assess the social, economic and environmental effects of regeneration. The trip provided a fantastic opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting while developing key fieldwork, communication and analytical skills.

To round off a successful day, pupils put their teamwork and competitive spirit to the test with a Ryder Cup-style mini golf competition at Treetop Golf! β›³πŸ†

A fantastic day of learning beyond the classroom, combining academic enquiry with plenty of fun along the way.

🦷✨ Year 8 were brushing up on their hygiene knowledge today with an interactive lesson exploring the importance of maintaining a healthy microbiome!

From mastering effective toothbrushing techniques to understanding the science behind antiperspirants and everyday hygiene habits, pupils discovered how small daily actions can have a big impact on their health and wellbeing.

They left the science lab squeaky clean, full of new knowledge, and ready to put their learning into practice! πŸ§ΌπŸ”¬

πŸŽ™οΈ New ISA Podcast: Practical Insights on School Inspections and Leadership

School inspections can often feel like a high-pressure performance rather than a reflection of everyday school life. In the latest episode of the ISA Podcast, our Headmistress, Mrs Christina McCullough, joins ISA inspectors and educational leaders to discuss navigating the evolving inspection landscape with confidence.

The conversation explores the new F23 inspection framework, current national trends, common regulatory considerations, and how school leaders can prepare strategically and authentically for inspection. Importantly, it also highlights the human side of the process, including supporting staff wellbeing and maintaining a strong school culture before, during and after an inspection.

This episode offers practical, reassuring and insightful guidance for school leaders, governors and educators alike.

πŸ¦πŸ’ A wild day of learning! πŸ˜πŸ¦’

As part of their Animals topic, our littlest learners enjoyed an exciting visit to Twycross Zoo, where they had the opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life.

The children were fascinated by the wide variety of animals and enjoyed learning about different habitats, diets and animal adaptations. They were particularly interested in discovering more about endangered species and the importance of protecting wildlife for future generations. πŸŒπŸ’š

It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience, filled with curiosity, exploration and plenty of smiles along the way!

We are incredibly proud of our Deputy Head (Pastoral), Miss Wooldridge, who has been selected to represent England Masters Hockey as Vice-Captain in the upcoming Home Nations Championship. πŸ‘πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Over three days of competition, Miss Wooldridge and her teammates will face Wales, Scotland and Ireland as they continue their preparations for the Masters World Cup in the Netherlands later this summer.

Speaking about the opportunity, Miss Wooldridge said:

"It is an honour to lead alongside such a talented group, and I am incredibly proud to wear the England shirt. This competition is an important step on our journey as we build towards representing England in the Masters World Cup."

We wish Miss Wooldridge the very best of luck and look forward to hearing all about her experiences when she returns. We know she will be an outstanding ambassador for both England and LGS Stoneygate. πŸ’™β€οΈ
