Real voices. Real experiences. Real change πŸ—£οΈπŸ’š

For Mental Health Awareness Day 2026, we're inviting people across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland to share a simple quote about how being active has helped their mental health.

Your experience doesn't have to be dramatic to make a difference. Sometimes the smallest changes, like a short walk or moving a little more each day, can have a big impact on how we feel.

National Walk Your Dog Week is coming to an end, but the benefits of getting outdoors last all year round πŸ•

We hope you've enjoyed spending time outside, exploring local spaces and getting active with your dog, family or friends this week.

Before the week finishes, challenge yourself to fit in one more walk. It doesn't have to be far. A short walk can be a great opportunity to clear your mind, enjoy the fresh air and appreciate the world around you πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Tell us: what's the best thing you've seen on a walk this week?

What difference does being active make to your mental health? πŸ’š

This October, we're creating a Mental Health Wall where people can share their personal experiences of how physical activity supports their mental wellbeing.

Whether it's a walk that clears your mind, a fitness class that boosts your confidence, or simply getting outside for some fresh air, we'd love to hear your story.

Every voice matters. Every experience can inspire someone else.

Add your quote to our Mental Health Wall today: https://ow.ly/LpBL50ZUrUH

Together, let's show how being active can support positive mental health.

🌳 Discover somewhere new this National Walk Your Dog Week 🌳

We all have a favourite walking spot, but this week is the perfect opportunity to try somewhere different. A new park, nature reserve, woodland trail or local green space could be right on your doorstep.

Taking time to get outdoors can help you feel refreshed, boost your mood and give both you and your four-legged friend something new to enjoy.

No dog? No problem! Head out for a walk and see how many wagging tails you can count along the way. 🐢

This autumn, challenge yourself to find one extra way to move each day πŸ‚

It could be a walk around your neighbourhood, a local exercise class, an active commute, or simply getting up and moving more often throughout the day. Physical activity looks different for everyone, and that's okay πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ƒ

Across LLR we're celebrating International Older People's Day! 😊

This year's theme is "What's on your doorstep?"

Many older adults would like to be more active and connected but may not know what's available locally. A recommendation from a family member, friend or neighbour can make all the difference.

Why not help someone you know discover a local walking group, exercise class or community activity?

🟣 Just 3 weeks to go until World Menopause Day 2026!

Held every year on 18 October, World Menopause Day raises awareness of the menopause transition and helps shine a spotlight on the support, research and resources available to women around the world.

This year's theme is Chronic Pain at Midlife, highlighting an issue that can affect many women during menopause. While everyone's experience is different, regular physical activity can play an important role in supporting physical and mental wellbeing, helping women stay active, connected and confident throughout midlife.

Across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, we're encouraging women to find ways to move more and discover activities that work for them πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸŽΎ
