Congratulations to our 2026 Men’s Club Champion Scott Wormleighton 🎉🎉🏆🏆⛳️⛳️
This year marks the 100th Club Championship first played in 1913. Scott won with a record 68 - 66 total 134 ⛳️⛳️ Congratulations! Thank you to everyone who came down to support today

The first round of the RPGC Men’s Club Championship is underway.

Arguably the strongest field in the Championship since it was first contested in 1913. Joint favourites this year are the winners from the last two years, Scott Wormleighton and Steve Sansome.

Both have won a number of County Championships, Scott is a former English Mid Amateur champion and Steve is a current English Senior International, rated number four in England and is the current Welsh Senior Champion.

Why not come down to RPGC and see how the club’s elite players tackle the challenges of our course.

The final group of Bobby Large, Steve Sansome and Scott Wormleighton tee off at 10.39.

The final round takes place tomorrow with the leaders teeing off at 10.39 am

Lady Captain’s Day 2026!
What a fabulous day we all had! The odd shower didn’t dampen spirits with the colourful purple & green theme with continued throughout the day including the evening meal!
Congratulations to all the prize winners including Mandy Stretton for winning the Joey Bryson Trophy with an amazing 41 points! 🏆🏆⛳️⛳️
A massive thank you to our Lady Captain Cate Alexander for a fabulous day!

Amy Jones, one of the most highly ranked wicketkeeper/ batters in Women’s World cricket has recently joined RPGC. Amy has represented England more than 250 times in all formats.
At the moment she is taking part in a three match T20 series against India which precedes the Women’s T20 World Cup which starts in two weeks’ time. England’s first match is on the 12th of June at Edgbaston against Sri Lanka.
We will be reporting on Amy’s progress throughout, hopefully culminating in the World Cup Final at Lord’s on the 5th of July.

Well done to Spencer for achieving his official handicap of 42.4! Spencer is one of the first juniors to complete our new 4 phase Junior Development Programme. A fantastic achievement and a great reflection of his hard work and dedication.

Yesterday we celebrated the 60th anniversary of membership at RPGC of Baroness Hazel Byford with a fun 11 hole Texas Scramble 🎉🎉⛳️⛳️

Baroness Hazel Byford (Pixie to friends and family) has been an active member of RPGC since joining the club in May 1966.
Whilst born and raised in Rothley, after marrying in 1962 she moved to the nearby village of Quorn.
Hazel’s career started in poultry farming and over the years she became a distinguished politician and agricultural advocate with deep roots in Leicestershire.
Hazel’s career transitioned from local voluntary services to the highest levels of British governance. She spent 15 years with the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service and served as the County Organiser for Leicestershire; she held various high-ranking roles within the Conservative Party including Chairman of the National Women’s Conservative Committee and holds multiple honorary doctorates.
In 1996 She was created a Life Peer as Baroness Byford of Rothley, she served in the House of Lords during which time she was the Shadow Minister for Food, Farming and Rural Affairs. Baroness Byford retired from the House of Lords in 2020 after 24 years of service.
We are proud to celebrate not only her 60-year membership at RPGC but also her great dedication to public service.

The greens staff have been hard at it this morning scarifying the greens to thin out the seed heads and remove thatch. Believe it or not the truck full of debris has been collected from only two greens. ⛳️⛳️
