Not the results we were hoping for last night, but still a really important night for the club, as we managed to put out two full teams at the same time in two different locations.

Our 1sts headed up to Nettleham to take on their 1sts, and following a good start were unfortunately rolled for 66 inside 16 overs.

Despite the low target, the guys gave their all to defend it, but despite two wickets for Josh Tollerton (2/16), Nettleham knocked it off inside 11 overs.

Meanwhile, our 2nds welcomed Scothern to the SCG for a Division Three clash.

Having been asked to field first, things didn’t go entirely to plan, as Scothern racked up 172/6 from their 18 overs.
Highlights included two wickets for Captain Paul Dewey (2/13) and a wicket apiece for Charlie Parker (1/19), Will Birkett (1/22), and Barnaby Pearson (1/23).

The target was always going to be a tough one, and so it proved with a total of 119/8 posted from 18 overs.
A 36-run partnership between Paul (22*) and Helen Plaskett (17) was the highlight of the chase, while there was also a pair of 13s from Will Birkett and Chibi Anandarajah.

A big night for the club and one we can all be proud of, even without bringing home the points.
Thank you to everyone who came down to the SCG and supported the 2nds, and thank you to the Saxilby Sport Hub and their volunteers for opening up the bar during the match 🍻

Thank you finally to club sponsors Lakeside Financial, Richard Betts Painters and Decorators, JM Automotive, and Agrigem for their ongoing support of the club. 🏏

🏏 Preview: Double Match Day 🏏

A proud moment for the club this evening, as we put out two full sides at the same time for the first time in the new era, showing just how far we’ve come in a few short years.
It’s a busy evening, as our Midweek 1sts head to Nettleham Cricket Club to face their 1sts, while our Midweek 2nds welcome Scothern Cricket Club to the SCG, with both matches beginning at 6.15pm.

The 1sts see four changes to their side tonight, as Ed Brook, Aled David and Craig Jones all come into the side, while Will Lockwood comes in to take the keeper’s gloves.

Meanwhile, the 2nds have three changes from their match last week, as Chibi Anandarajah and Charlie Parker come back into the side, while Nixon Jacob makes a long-awaited return to cricket for the club.

If you’re heading to the SCG tonight, the Saxilby Sports Hub Bar will be open, so you can grab a drink and watch some cricket, or you could make the short trip to Nettleham if that takes your fancy.

If anything changes weather-wise, we’ll update as soon as possible.
Good luck to both squads tonight, whatever happens, we’re just incredibly proud of this milestone moment.

Thank you to club sponsors Lakeside Financial, Richard Betts Painters and Decorators, JM Automotive and Agrigem for their continued support of the club. 🏏

‼️ Please be aware that there is always an element of risk when watching cricket. We’d like to request that parents of children playing around the ground or in the park keep vigilant for cricket balls throughout the game. ‼️ 🏏

Keeping local sport thriving.

This Volunteers’ Week, we're recognising the volunteers who help keep Saxilby Cricket Club running both on and off the pitch.

Alice volunteers as the club's Treasurer and Secretary and is part of the committee that works behind the scenes to support the club throughout the year.

Alice explains:

"There's a lot of behind the scenes action to keep the club running smoothly! As a committee we have to coordinate memberships, fundraising, legal and compliance, all whilst making sure everyone in the club has a good time too."

While players take to the field each week, volunteers help make it all possible by giving their time, skills and dedication to the club.

The club is always keen to welcome new volunteers and players.

Alice added:

"The club could always do with extra pairs of hands and new players too! So if you're interested in finding out more please get in touch through our page."

Thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to help local sport flourish in our community.

Another day, another thriller, as our women’s hard ball team came out on the wrong side of a seven-run defeat to Caistor yesterday at the SCG.

Fielding first and with only seven players, the whole squad put in a brilliant shift to keep Caistor to 261/5 from their 16 overs.
The bowlers did well to keep things tight, and this was backed up by fielders giving their all to keep the runs down and stop the boundaries.

Into the run chase and despite some good individual innings, too many wickets were lost along the way, and with it being minus five for each wicket lost, losing 10 wickets was an absolute killer in a tight run chase, and so it proved, as we fell short by seven runs.

As ever, the close games are always the hardest ones to take when you come out on the wrong side, but there are always some positives to be taken and plenty to work on. 💪

Thank you to club sponsors Sills & Betteridge Solicitors, PayPlan Debt Help and JM Automotive, for their ongoing support of the team. 🏏

🏏 Preview 🏏

A first home game of the summer for our women’s Super 8s Hardball team tomorrow, as they welcome Caistor Town CC Women to the SCG at 1pm.

It’s six weeks since this team last played, and they’ll be hoping for a better result than last time out when they lost both matches they played.

Only seven available tomorrow, and the game sees a first start of the summer for club stalwart Helen Sutton.

If you’re around tomorrow, the squad would really appreciate your support during their first home game of the year.
Hopefully, we’ll see you there from 1pm.

Thank you to team sponsors Sills & Betteridge Solicitors, PayPlan Debt Help and JM Automotive for their continued support of the team. 🏏

Congratulations to our very own Vrishin ‘Dags’ Dagar for making the county batting honours board this week, following his 133 last weekend away at Lindum 2nds 👏
Last weekend’s century was the first of Dags’ career and we’re sure it won’t be the last 💯

A first win of the season for our Midweek 2nds last night, as they beat the ‘Lads Who Play Cricket’ (LWPC) by 20 runs at Market Rasen.

Having been asked to bat first, a total of 139/2 was built around 27* for Tommy Parker and 25* for Captain Paul Dewey.
Rob Honeyball also hit a quick 26* to help the team reach what seemed a substantial target in 18 overs.

The defence got off to the perfect start, with Leonie Spittles (2/24) taking two in two balls in the first over, while other opening bowler Craig Jones (2/10) also took one in his first over.
This good start was backed up by Harvey Woolley taking two wickets on debut for the club on his way to figures of 2/22 from three overs.

A good win in the end and hopefully the first of many for the 2s this summer.
Thank you to LWPC for their hospitality on the evening, hopefully we’ll see them at the SCG for a return fixture later in the summer.

Thank you to club sponsors Lakeside Financial, Richard Betts Painters and Decorators, JM Automotive, and Agrigem for their ongoing support of the club. 🏏
