Our sessions use the power of angling and the outdoors to support children, young people and adults, helping them to:

💚 Build confidence and resilience
🤝 Make new friends and feel part of a supportive community
🏞️ Disconnect from everyday pressures and reconnect with nature

Whether you’ve never held a fishing rod before or you’re looking for a positive outdoor activity, everyone is welcome. All equipment is provided, and our sessions are led by a fully qualified Angling Trust Level 2 Coach in a safe, friendly environment.

One of the best things about our sessions isn’t just the fish that are caught… it’s seeing families out on the bank together.

Watching parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and children sharing those special moments is exactly what Primal Mentality CIC is all about. Whether it’s helping land a first fish, celebrating a new PB, or simply spending quality time outdoors away from screens, these are memories that will last forever.

Fishing has an incredible way of bringing generations together. It teaches patience, teamwork, respect for nature and gives families the opportunity to slow down, talk and enjoy each other’s company.

We are incredibly proud to welcome Lillian May as an Official Ambassador for Primal Mentality CIC! 🎣💚

Lillian has been passionate about angling since the age of just five and has gone on to become the youngest female carp angler to represent England on the world stage as a member of the England Women's Carp Team.

Her angling journey has already seen her compete in some of the UK's biggest carp competitions, including the British Carp Angling Championships, Youth Challenge Carp Cup, BCAC Mixed Pairs, Forces Carp Classic, and Kontender 2025.

But what makes Lillian such a perfect fit for Primal Mentality CIC isn't just her achievements—it's her passion for inspiring others. She shares our belief that angling has the power to build confidence, improve wellbeing and create opportunities for young people to thrive.

As an Ambassador, Lillian will be helping us encourage the next generation to discover the incredible benefits of angling, nature and the outdoors.

This coming September, this future superstar will be taking on the mammoth challenge of climbing Snowdon!

Amelia, with her father Chris Jervis will be climbing Snowdon to raise important funds for not only the Women’s Carp Team, but also for Primal Mentality CIC -Reel Healing.

Chris founded Primal Mentality CIC after seeing first-hand the positive impact that angling, nature and outdoor learning can have on confidence, wellbeing and personal development. His vision was simple: to make these life-changing opportunities accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability or background.

🎣 A Little Throwback... Where It All Started. 🏆

It's amazing to look back at these photos and remember where the Primal Youth Carp Championship first began.

What started as an idea to give young anglers a safe, supportive and exciting competition has grown into something we're incredibly proud of. Watching these young people build confidence, make friendships, improve their angling skills and create lifelong memories is exactly why we do what we do.

Every competition has been about so much more than catching fish. It's about learning respect, sportsmanship, teamwork, resilience and spending time outdoors doing what we all love.

To every young angler, parent, volunteer, sponsor and supporter who has been part of this journey... thank you. You've helped turn an idea into something truly special.

We're only just getting started, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for grassroots youth carp fishing. 💚🎣

A huge congratulations to both of our runners-up, who put in fantastic performances throughout the 24-hour qualifier and secured their well-earned places in the Primal Mentality CIC Carp Championship Final!

Harry fished brilliantly from start to finish, landing four quality carp for a combined weight of 66lb 2oz. A consistent performance that earns him a deserved place in the Grand Final. Well done, Harry! 👏

Lauren showed great determination throughout the event, landing three beautiful carp for a total of 40lb 12oz. A fantastic effort and another well-deserved qualifier for the Grand Final. Brilliant angling! 👏

We’re incredibly proud of every young angler who took part this weekend. The sportsmanship, fish care, determination and respect shown by everyone was exactly what the Primal Carp Championship is all about.

A massive congratulations to our Qualifier 2 winner Logan, who put on an incredible display of carp fishing over the 24-hour event! 🎣

With an outstanding 7 fish landed, totalling an unbelievable 122lb 4oz, it was a performance worthy of becoming our next finalist.

From the very first fish to the last, the determination, patience and skill shown throughout the session were fantastic to watch. Every fish was cared for impeccably, and the hard work truly paid off.
