A brilliant evening at the Little Ship Club for our annual Laying Up Supper! 🏆

It was a chance to come together and celebrate the fantastic achievements of our members with trophies awarded across a range of sailing accomplishments. We were also delighted to welcome our Club President, Mike Golding, as our Guest of Honour for the evening.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening!

NEXT WEEK We’ve got our Club Night: Penguins, Yachts and a Post Office in Antarctica

Lucy Bruzzone will share her experience as Port Lockroy Base Leader on tiny Goudier Island, home to Antarctica’s first permanent British scientific research base, around a thousand penguins, a post office and a seasonal team of four. She’ll also introduce some of the visiting yachts and explain how the experience brought her back to sailing.

A few Little Ship Club boats were out on the water this weekend for the John Lewis Partnership Sailing Club Regatta, part of the City Sailing Series! ⛵

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, with one crew discovering a throttle problem with their charter boat before the race. After a tow from Sea Start, the skipper managed to swap boats and still make it to the start line!

A good reminder that you never quite know what a day on the water will bring. Great to see so many of our members taking part and representing the club!

IN TWO WEEKS We’ve got our Fast Cruise 1 - The Bizzey Cup

The centenary Fast Cruise Series begins with a race for the Bizzey Cup, celebrating the art of gentlemanly seamanship. Crews will tackle long or short courses under the YTC handicap before gathering ashore at the Light Ship Haslar Marina to share stories and race tactics.

We’re delighted to see our inaugural Conquer the Island event featured in Practical Boat Owner! ⛵

Following the event, journalist Ali Wood joined Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and a Little Ship Club crew for the sail back from Cowes, capturing the experience in her latest article, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.

This week’s Club Night took us from the clear waters of Tonga to one of the biggest environmental challenges facing our oceans 🌊

LSC member Nicola shared the story of her eXXpedition voyage, which brought together fourteen women, five Tongan islands and one yacht with a shared purpose: collecting and analysing plastic debris to contribute to worldwide research into ocean pollution and potential solutions.

It was a fascinating evening exploring both the realities of plastic pollution and the role that sailing and citizen science can play in understanding it.

A brilliant day at this year’s Sheep Drive, where Little Ship Club was delighted to have a stall as part of the celebrations 🐑

The annual Sheep Drive revives one of the City of London’s best-known historic traditions, with Freemen of the City once again driving sheep across the Thames as part of a day celebrating the City’s heritage and livery community.

With the Little Ship Club’s own long connection to the City, it was a pleasure to be involved in such a distinctive London tradition and to be part of the day’s celebrations.

Another week of adventures for our members, with plenty happening around the south coast and beyond 🌊

This week we’ve had updates from Land’s End, Falmouth and Henley-on-Thames, a visit to the Southampton International Boat Show, and the chance to see the Andalusian galleon while she was in Cowes.
