Proud moment for Seido Karate London Shibu 🇬🇧
Our junior team recently competed in an international tournament in Sucha Beskidzka, Poland — facing top competitors aged 10–18 from Seido dojos across the country.
Despite being a small team, they delivered outstanding results:

🥇 Multiple 1st place finishes across Kata, Points Fighting, and Contact Fighting
🏆 Overall Top Competitor award (Sogo)
👏 Strong performances from every team member

Beyond the medals, what makes this event special is the experience — building confidence, discipline, and friendships that last far beyond the competition.

We’ve proudly supported this tournament for many years, and it remains an incredible opportunity for our young students to grow, challenge themselves, and connect internationally.

If you’re looking for a positive, structured environment where young people can develop skills, confidence, and lifelong friendships, Seido Karate could be the right fit

🌅 Seido Dover Winter Beach Training & Kagami Biraki 🌊🥋
On Sunday 11th January 2026, we return to Sunny Sands Beach, Folkestone, kicking off at the bright and early hour of 7:00am for one of the toughest, coldest, and most rewarding traditions in our UK karate calendar.
This winter beach training and Kagami Biraki was started by Kyoshi Mike Knight over 35 years ago and has taken place every single year since – for the hardy among us who enjoy the challenge, the camaraderie, and the unique sense of achievement that only this experience delivers.
This year we’re delighted another group of London students are making the journey down to Folkestone to train alongside Seido Dover once again. As always, the invitation is open to all students who would like to take part.
Over the years we’ve trained in rain, wind, frost, and snow. For those brave (or mad!) enough, we enter the sea – and sometimes we’re rewarded with a truly spectacular sunrise that makes the early start and frozen toes completely worth it.
This really is a must-do event at some point in your karate journey. You’ll remember it long after you’ve warmed up.
If you’ve ever thought “maybe next year”… this might just be the year. Come and test yourself, share the experience, and start the year the Seido way.
Osu! 👊❄️

As we step into the new year, I’d like to invite all Seido Karate students to Kagami Biraki—a special time for us to come together as one Seido family.
Kagami Biraki, which means “opening the mirror,” is a traditional New Year practice in Japanese martial arts. It’s a moment to reflect honestly on the year that’s passed, to recommit to our training, and to set our intention for the year ahead with a strong, positive spirit. We look at ourselves clearly, acknowledge our growth, and step forward with renewed purpose.
This year feels especially meaningful as UK Seido dojos come together - connecting, training, and starting the year united. Whether you train in a large dojo or a small one, you are part of something bigger. What we do on the dojo floor links us not only across the UK, but to Seido Karate students around the world, all following the same principles and spirit.
I hope you all had a relaxing and joyful festive break, spending time with friends and family. Now, as we return to training, Kagami Biraki is our chance to reset, refocus, and prepare ourselves—physically, mentally, and emotionally—for the year ahead.
Looking forward, there’s even more to inspire us. In 2026, World Seido Karate will come together in New York to celebrate Zen Shin and the 50th Anniversary of World Seido Karate. What we begin now, in our own dojos, is part of that global journey.
I’m really looking forward to sharing this moment with you all. Let’s start the year together with openness, connection, and strong Seido spirit. Osu!! 🥋

Fantastic effort and outstanding results from our juniors this morning in the final grading of our London Shibu’s two weeks of promotions. Your focus, spirit, and technique were excellent — you should all feel very proud of yourselves.
It was great to see such a consistent level of karate across all our London Seido Karate programs, including Wimbledon Dojo, Holy Cross RC Primary, and Holy Trinity After-School programs. Well done, and thank you to all our dedicated instructors for your hard work.
A huge thank-you also to all parents for your ongoing support of Seido Karate London and for the trust you place in us to work with your children.
What impressed me most today — beyond the strong karate techniques — was the ability of all our young students (some as young as six!) to maintain and control their focus throughout the entire grading. Truly excellent! 👍
Once again, well done to everyone. You’ve all earned a well-deserved rest.
Osu!! 🙏🥋

Congratulations to everyone who graded last night!
It was a tough promotion and you were pushed to your limits, but your non-quitting attitude and spirit shone through. Huge thanks to Jun Shihan, Sensei, Senpai, and all supporters—your energy really lifted the room and showed the strength of our Seido Karate London Shibu community.
Special shout-out to all the parents who graded; you set a brilliant example for your kids ahead of their own grading this Saturday. True role models.
And thank you to Mark for the fantastic photos of the evening! 🥋✨
