People often ask why I don’t do many boxing tutorials on my socials.
The simple answer is that my world has always been coaching fighters, and in professional boxing you’ll notice that most coaches working with fighters rarely give away detailed coaching on social media. The gym floor and the corner are where the real work gets done. I come from an old-school boxing background where the knowledge was passed down in the gym, not through a phone screen. Don’t get me wrong, once in a while I will drop some knowledge, but most times I like to talk about boxing in general or the mentality side of the sport. Sometimes I like doing a little breakdown over a fight I’ve just watched.
I also believe boxing is something that is best learned face to-face. Timing, distance, positioning, reactions and feel are difficult to teach through a 60 second clip. I prefer to be hands on, making corrections in real time and helping people develop the right habits from the start.
I understand why some coaches build businesses around online tutorials, and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just not my approach. If you want to learn from me, I’d rather you come into the gym, put the gloves on and learn it properly in person.

Dear Rio,
Your mum and I couldn’t be prouder of you.
Ever since you were a little boy, all we’ve ever tried to do is guide you into becoming a good man. The discipline, the manners, teaching you to take pride in yourself, your work, and your surroundings, it was always about preparing you for life.
I didn’t have the best upbringing, and I never wanted you to face the struggles I did. So everything your mum and I have done has been to give you love, security, confidence, and the belief that you can achieve anything.
Even at three years old, I knew you were crazy. Looking back, it makes perfect sense you’ve become a boxer. Because to be a boxer you have to be a little crazy. I know I’m hard on you. There are times you probably want to punch me in the face. But every extra run, every conditioning session, every reminder to do more is because boxing is dangerous. There are no shortcuts in this sport.
At just 17 years old, with only 15 amateur fights, you’ve won a gold medal and in the final you beat a boxer with over 120 fights. What did I tell you, this is amateur boxing, records mean nothing. You won the tournament because you listened & you believed in yourself.
Always remember, I never forced you into boxing. This had to come from your heart. My job is to keep helping you become a better man and a better fighter & mentally become even stronger. Your job is simple: keep showing up, keep working, and make no excuses.
One Gold Medal is not enough, you have to be a serial winner & keep going for more. We Love you, son. ❤️
Let’s go. 🥊🏅
