Maldon Higashi Karate Club

Holiday season can mean a small class sometimes, but we was blessed this Thursday with one of Maldon's original Sensie's Pete Masion.
Pete ran the club back in the 80's and I can personally remember attending his classes as a young teenager, Pete had amazing fitness and also ran circuit training sessions as well as playing squash.
The Maldon club ran twice a week in the at Park Drive squash club with an emerging Sensie Gibbs sharing responsibilities.
Pete is now approaching 80 and is a keen fisherman and still lives in the local area. It was lovely to see him and reminisce with him over a pint.

Young Gabriel was very busy yesterday! Attending the Young Lions training in the morning, then the Higashi karate course in the afternoon and finishing the day with a successful grading. 😮🥋👏👏

Congratulations to Demi, Megan and Gabriel on their promotions yesterday at the Higashi karate course and grading.
All graded in front of a senior grading panel under very hot conditions.
Some very positive feedback from all the panel about you all 👏.
Alexia also took part in the grading but under assessment conditions, looking to see what work is required for her next grading (Black Belt, 1st Dan). She worked extremely hard a set a very good impression with the panel!

We are all incredibly proud to see you all performing to such a high standard, all the hard work and continuous training is paying off, please take note of any feedback you receive building steps to your next goal. ❤️🥋👏

A massive thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s course and grading (Saturday, 20th June 2026) in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex!
It was an incredible turnout, and a huge thank you goes out to all the senior instructors and students who made the day so special. Training and grading in yesterday's challenging heat was no small feat, but the determination, focus, and spirit on display were absolutely outstanding. You all did amazing!
