🚨WEEKEND RESULTS🚨

The 1st traveled to table topping Barney and after loosing the toss were asked to bat. A good opening partnership from James Lowe and Rhys Ditta saw us score 62 before the first wicket fell. Rhys top scoring with 42 which included four 6’s. Plenty of batters making starts but against a good Bareny attack wickets fell consistently seeing us finish 222-9 from our 50 overs. In reply Harry Williams made the first break through before 2 wickets in 2 overs saw us head to drinks with the score 85-3. Fez picked up 2 quick wickets after drinks and at 121-5 the game was evenly poised. But a strong partnership of 99 saw Barney take the game away from us and the winning runs hit in the 2nd last over.

At Acklam park the 2nds won the toss and chose to field. Sam Stockton again picking up wickets with the new ball. Sam and Andrew Taylor both taking 2 wickets. In reply it was Gopal Singh who was the back bone of the chase and joined by Parker Lowe they put on 70 before the latter was dismissed. Gopal kept his calm to see the team finish 201-9 chasing 220 to win. Gman finishing with 65 not out.

Due to the Kerridge cup final the 3rd team had no game but return to action at Acklam park this weekend!

⚫️ Deserved recognition for Kev Moore 🟣

A huge well done to Kev from everyone at MCC after he was inducted into the NYSD’s Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Kev is known around our region as being a loyal Middlesbrough volunteer and has now given almost 40 years of service to our club.

Kev has scored more than 1,000 games for Middlesbrough, including a 23-season stint as first team scorer.

His coaching and team manager roles have helped our junior section grow to be one of the biggest in the area.

As NYSD President Chris West said on Sunday: “the words ‘dedicated clubman’ have never been more apt”.

Away from his duties at Acklam Park, junior cricket simply wouldn’t run as smoothly as it does across North Yorkshire and South Durham without Kev.

He spends days each winter preparing fixtures for all junior leagues and arranging the popular indoor tournaments.

Kev’s motivation is simply to increase the number of kids enjoying our game and raise standards across the board. In recent years he has been a leading advocate for women’s and girls’ cricket and has proudly watched on as our Middlesbrough Maidens have performed impressively this season.

As the NYSD programme said this weekend: “A phenomenal record of service that fully deserves to be recognised by inclusion in the Hall of Fame”.

An excellent FIRST match for Middlesbrough CC Women’s team. Great captaincy and leadership from Melissa. Some lovely batting from Isla, Elouise and Lily.

Although there was only 1 wicket taken, by Sophie, the bowling was tight and restricted the visitors (Rockliffe Park) to 94 runs from their 100 balls.

This was a game played in great spirit by both sides. Everyone played their part.

The future looks bright for girls’ and women’s cricket at Middlesbrough. 🏏🩷💪

We’d like to say a huge congratulations and well done to Sol after his retirement for the U13s Wolves on Tuesday. We are so proud of you!

A fantastic team performance which also included another retirement for Freddie W, and a stand out performance for Rahim with 30* not out and a 5-fer with the ball.

This was the last game of the season for our U13s who have had another fantastic season together! UTB
