🎾 IT’S HERE… THE WALL HAS LANDED 🎾
After plenty of discussion, inflating, adjusting, checking pressures and a bit of standing back admiring it… our new tennis wall is now in place at Monmouth Tennis Club! 🙌
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported fundraising and club improvements to help make things like this happen ❤️
Whether you want to practise consistency, improve reactions, warm up before a game or settle the age-old question of who really wins in a rally… the wall is ready.
Special thanks to Paul Simpson for the demo duties in today’s promo video. Safe to say… the wall held its own 😆😆
And just one thing before you head down…
🎯 Good luck. Nobody has beaten the wall yet!

🎾 Great result for Monmouth A on Wednesday night in the Cymru Kitchens Midweek Summer League, beating Cwmbran B 7–4 with a 46–36 advantage in games 💪
Matt Hatton & Paul Simpson picked up two excellent wins, defeating Ryan & Mark 6-4, 1-6, (10-4) before following up with a strong 7-6, 6-2 victory over Lewis Spinetti & George Webb 🔥
Sean Delahoy & Arlo Purton also battled brilliantly, winning a tense match against Lewis & George 6-4, 4-6, (10-5), before narrowly losing out to Ryan & Mark in another championship tie-break.
A fantastic evening of competitive tennis with three matches decided by championship tie-breaks 👏🎾💚
A fantastic Saturday morning for the Monmouth ladies as they secured a brilliant 4–2 home victory over Cwmbran at Monmouth Tennis Club, winning the overall games count 61–44 🎾☀️💚
Our First Team were in outstanding form throughout, producing a flawless performance to win all four of their sets with some excellent doubles tennis and confident play at the net 👏
Carmen Johnson and Rachel Simpson got off to a flying start with a dominant 6–1, 6–0 victory against Cwmbran’s 3rd pair before battling hard in a much closer second match against the visitors’ top pair.
Carolyn Jones and Helen Dacey opened their morning against Cwmbran’s 2nd pair in a hard-fought encounter before later producing a brilliant battle against the opposition’s 3rd pair. After sharing the sets, the match went all the way to a deciding championship tie-break, with Monmouth winning 10–7 in a dramatic finish. Their fighting spirit and determination contributed valuable games to the overall win.
A brilliant all-round team effort with plenty of great rallies, teamwork and support throughout the morning 💚🎾

🎾💚 New racket day… and honestly, few things beat that feeling.
Fresh strings. Fresh grip. That first thwack that sounds like optimism and expensive decisions 🤣
Welcome to the bag: the Wilson Blade V10💚
Who else secretly believes a new racket adds at least 20% to their game before they’ve even hit a ball? 👀

🎾Monmouth’s Mens A team travelled to Newport tonight and came away with an excellent 3-1 win over Newport A in the Cymru Kitchens Summer Doubles League, finishing 42 games to 36 overall.
Paul and Matt were up first against Newport’s first pair and, despite a strong performance, were edged out 6-2, 7-6 in a close contest. They responded brilliantly in their second match against Newport’s second pair, turning things around to claim a 6-3, 7-6 win and get Monmouth back on track.
Sean D and Sam were in superb form all evening. They saw off Newport’s second pair 6-2, 6-4, before producing another excellent performance against the home side’s first pair. After dropping the opening set 3-6, they fought back to take the second 6-2 and then held their nerve to win the deciding tie-break 10-8.
That meant our Men secured victory by 3 rubbers to 1, winning 6 sets to 3 and 42 games to 36. A brilliant away result for the Men’s A team and a cracking all-round effort against strong opposition.
What a fantastic day at Tom’s Cup 2026! ☀️🎾
Everyone played 24 games and after a brilliant morning of tennis, Peter H lifted the cup with 16 points. Rachel and Claude were our top ladies with 14 points each.
A huge thank you to everyone who played, baked, donated and came along to support. Special thanks to Carmen for the delicious scones and to Pauline for keeping everything running smoothly.

🎾 TOM’S CUP TOMORROW! 🎾
The courts will be buzzing from 10am tomorrow as 16 players battle it out in Tom’s Cup 2026, all in support of a local charity.
There’ll be cakes, bananas, a charity donation table and plenty of tennis to watch, so if you fancy a Sunday morning with a little Wimbledon-on-the-Wye energy, please come down and support! Every donation, however small, helps. 🌟
Please note there will be no Sunday social tennis tomorrow morning, as Tom’s Cup is taking over the courts.
Good luck to all of our players. May your serves be spicy, your volleys sharp, and your cakes survive longer than a tie-break! 🍌🧁
