🇬🇧 GB Squad Announced for Brazil 2026

The wait is over. Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby has confirmed the 12 athletes who will represent GB at the 2026 World Wheelchair Rugby World Championships in São Paulo, Brazil.

With a blend of experienced internationals and exciting emerging talent, this squad is ready to take on the world's best as they continue their journey towards LA 2028.

Women and Girls Impact Series Launches - Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby GBWR has launched the Women and Girls Impact Series for 2026/27, offering free coaching, officiating, learning and competition opportunities to support, develop and connect women and girls across wheelchair rugby.

🏉 Tuesday neet was a proper belter!

The team put the graft in with some passing drills and 2-on-1s, working hard to sharpen up their handling, movement and decision-making. We finished the session with a fun game, which got a bit competitive as usual! 😆

By the end of the neet there were some cracking passes, a few questionable passes, and at least one player claiming, “Aye man, a knew exactly where that was gaan!” 😂

Once training was done, a massive shout-out to Fran, Charlotte and Elijah, who stayed behind to help Mick pack away all the chairs, balls and equipment.

It’s amazing how fast the court empties when it’s time to pack away, but these three stuck around and helped get the job done. Absolute stars. 💚

We’re also looking for new volunteers to help support our training sessions. Whether it’s setting up equipment, helping pack away, or just lending a hand, we’d love to welcome you to the Newcastle Wheelchair Rugby family.

Ready for big hits, quick hands and causing a bit of chaos wherever we gan.

We’ll not be travelling doon the motorway just for the scenery, like. 😏

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 💚🏉

Newcastle Wheelchair Rugby is growing, and we’re looking for a few more volunteers to join the team.

No experience needed. Just bring a willingness to help.

Our volunteers help set up equipment before training, change inner tubes when tyres blow, and help put equipment away at the end of the session.

Junior and adult players train every Tuesday evening at Gateshead Leisure Centre, and our club simply wouldn’t be where it is today without the support of volunteers.

We’re not asking for a huge commitment. Our approach is simple: come when you can. If you can’t make it, that’s no problem. Every bit of help makes a difference.
