WHAT A WEEKEND, WHAT A RALLY! 🥳
Saturday threw a fair bit of mizzle at us, but you lot turned up anyway. Waterproofs on, hoods up and getting stuck in. And despite the weather, we still had a cracking day.
Saturday night the marquee was absolutely jam-packed, and then Sunday…the sun came out! ☀️
The whole site was BUZZING - people everywhere, every field full of life and a gorgeous atmosphere from the minute the gates opened.
The main ring was packed, the displays were brilliant, the parades were heaving, and we've had so many lovely messages from people telling us how much they enjoyed themselves - whether it was their first rally or their fifteenth.
After everything it has taken to get this weekend to happen, we couldn’t be happier (or more relieved!) that it all came together.
The bit you see when you walk through the gates is really just the tip of the iceberg because a rally like this doesn't just happen.
It takes months of work, an enormous amount of time and a ridiculous number of moving parts to get from a committee conversation in the pub to hundreds of people enjoying themselves on a field.
This year we had the fundraising and extra events to actually get us to the point where we could afford to put the rally on.
There is the land, the marquees, the fencing, the posts, the rope, the measuring, the marking out and the seemingly endless jobs involved in turning a field into a rally site.
There are the signs, the maps, the programmes, the social media, the marketing, the paperwork, the insurance, the risk assessments and all the health and safety that goes on behind the scenes to make sure everyone can enjoy themselves safely.
There are the people organising the bar, ordering the stock, running it all weekend and then clearing it all away.
There are the things we borrow, the machinery, the storage, trailers, mowers, tools and equipment that people willingly make available to us.
There are the people running the Tea Room, the ridiculous number of cakes that were donated this year, the dog ring, the car boot, the 4x4 track, the tractor pulling and all the other little bits that make the weekend what it is.
There are the parades, the display teams and the entertainment. The people on the microphones. The exhibitors who bring their pride and joy along and spend the weekend showing them off.
And then there are the people who give up their weekend to stand on the gates, manage the car parks, marshal, move things, fix things, clean things, answer questions and generally put a shift in from start to finish.
Some of that work is a few hours.
Some of it is months.
Some of it is hard physical graft!
And a lot of it is time taken away from jobs, families, businesses and normal everyday life.
That is what actually makes this rally happen.
So we really don't want to try and name every single person, because we'd be here until next year's rally and we'd inevitably leave somebody out.
Instead, we want to say a massive, genuine THANK YOU to every single person who has played a part - however big or small, whether you've been involved for months, turned up at the last minute to save our bacon, or simply brought something along that helped make the weekend what it was.
And a very special thank you to the Young-Jamieson family for allowing us to use their land.
To our exhibitors, traders, volunteers, suppliers, entertainers, helpers, supporters, fundraisers and everyone who gives their time, equipment, skills and energy to this event: Thank you.
And finally, to every single person who came through those gates this weekend - thank you for turning up. Especially on Saturday when the weather could quite easily have kept you at home.
You have no idea how much it meant to see the place absolutely buzzing.
This year was always going to feel different without DT, and it has been a massive learning curve.
There have been plenty of moments where we've wondered whether we were actually going to pull it off.
But we did.
And we know he'd have been seriously proud.

P.S. - we've got the marquees to take down this weekend if anybody is around? Sorry, the work isn't quite done yet! 😂
