Introducing our next team member of the series! Our resident big runner, centre Brad Pennock! Who makes it look like a bulldozer carrying the ball. Strong lines, and even stronger tackles! Brad has been a consistent lad down at pre season this year and has made some real commitment to the team both on and off the pitch! We cannot wait to see what he does this 26/27 season! The result may not have gone our way yesturday for our first official pre season run out, but the spirit of rugby and the true passion for the game was clear to see! Both teams comming together to celebrate and remember the late Terry Parsons, was a fantastic day and a truly memorable one for the family of Terry, including his son Matt who captained the Aycliffe side! So thank you to Houghton for the hospitality, tough game and touching presentation afterwards we wish you the best of luck this comming season! That been said, the Aycliffe lads ( all 30 of them ) left it all out there, there was some brilliant rugby on display. Very promising start to the comming season, and the work being put in behind the scenes is evident in the performance of the lads. The score line did not reflect the level of heart shown by our lads , and in reality Rugby was the real winner! Thank you to everyone who has shown support to the club, and specifically all those who travelled to support the Aycliffe lads on such an important game! We go again on the 19th of September at home and we look forward to showing off what we can do!

Introducing our very versatile player Dale Patterson, a ridiculously strong ball carrier but also a very technical player, dale is a huge asset to our squad here at Aycliffe! He’s been working really hard along side the lads this pre season and we anticipate what he will do when he takes to the pitch this season! “ Newton Aycliffe is the town I’ve grown up and it’s a team that’s always had a place in my heart, regardless of the level of rugby I’ve had the chance to play I’ve always wanted to finish my playing time at Aycliffe with the boys! There has been some serious work put in this preseason and we’re hoping to show the improvements when it comes to game days ! I can’t wait to get stuck in and looking forward to my first run out this year!” Dale Patterson

Introducing our next meet the team announcement, Dan Knowles! Dan has been a returning lad down at pre season again this year and after a year of not really playing has decided to commit to playing some more this season which is great to see! We look forward to him dominating in the scrum and set pieces and making some strong runs and getting amongst it in the breakdowns! “ it’s a great feeling being back down at the club atm and things really seem to be fitting together with the lads and how we want to play this season, I can’t wait to get on the pitch and have a run out and look forward to all our hard work being displayed come game days “ Dan Knowles

Introducing perhaps the most eagerly anticipated meet the team post- the one and only Bob Malvern! A front row specialist, past president of the Durham County RFC for the 25/26 season, coach, player, committee member and overall legend to the club! His knowledge both on and off the pitch are vital to this team and every player who has has the honour to share the field with Bob know the value he brings! We look forward to seeing him making his appearances this season and hopefully getting that ball over the line! “ NARUFC has been a huge part of my life and I adore the club and all the lads who come down and train, it’s an honour at my age to still be able to tie my boots never mind get a full 80 minutes in, but I love it! After a much anticipated wait from the lads down at NARUFC we have our very first team sheet announcement of the comming season! Our Terry Parsons memorial match against Houghton RFC! Kick off is 15.00 on Saturday September 5th Away at Houghton! The lads are more than ready to get stuck in! Any support would be greatly appreciated and if anyone has been missed off the team sheet but plans on making an appearance our captain Jamie Whelan apologises! Anyone else or their dog who fancy’s a run out feel free to bring your kit and boots! We can’t wait to see you there and hopefully bring all of the pre season hard work to life! Up the Cliffe 🟢🟡🔴

Introducing our 15th player as part of the meet the team series! Patrick Riseborough ! Not only is paddy a dominant player on the pitch, who can coordinate some exelllent lines and hands on ball moves, but off the pitch he is a top lad, Personally sponsoring some of the other squad! A true Aycliffe player physically and mentally we are delighted to have him as part of the squad and anticipate watching the damage he does on the pitch! Having only joined us this preseason Kev has made a massive impression on the team, his carrying ability and monstrous strength will make him a player to be feared by the opposition! He’s putting some hard work in at training and really embracing everything that NARUFC is about! Our next team member to be introduced is the one and only Paul soakell! An experienced player who has been down at Aycliffe for years! Whose recent return to training has helped the squad massively! A versatile player who can play most positions, but his power and agility make him a mammoth at 12! We can’t wait to see what paul does this season for the Cliffe! “ it’s so good to be back with the lads after a bit of time away, the work rate of this club is second to none and it’s good to be getting put through my paces ahead of the upcoming season! “ Paul is sponsored by “ Bros Barbers “ , which means he will be the freshest player on the squad!
