⚫️⚪️ A NEW SEASON WITH DUNNY AT THE HELM ⚫️⚪️

A bonus-point 45–35 win over West Hartlepool got the 1st XV’s league campaign off to a positive start, while the Lions will have to wait after their opener at DMP was postponed.

Ahead of the opening weekend, we caught up with new senior men’s head coach Andy Dunn. A former Club Captain who knows Percy Park inside out, Dunny is clear about the rugby he wants this young squad to play:

“We are looking to play a fast, free and expansive brand of rugby, keeping the ball in hand whenever possible and stretching opposition defences across the full width of the field. At the same time, we want to be aggressive, physical and well organised in defence, ensuring we are difficult to break down.”

A productive pre-season has seen Joe Green, Kiran Hope, Tom Cahill and Matthew Robertson settle into the squad, adding to healthy competition for places. Young players Will Ponton, Jacob German and Matthew Dunn have also caught the eye with their potential and willingness to learn.

“There is a real sense of excitement around the group, and while there will undoubtedly be challenges ahead, the potential within this squad is clear for everyone to see.”

An opening win to build on and plenty to look forward to. Here’s to the season ahead, Dunny! ⚫️⚪️
