Letโs re-cap last weekโs event before we go full swing into another junior parkrun tomorrow โ๏ธ

After plenty of rain, the clouds kindly called a temporary truce just in time for Florence Park junior parkrun. The result? Our juniors, families, and volunteers managed to get through the morning without getting wet! We'll take that as a win.
And there was plenty more to celebrate once everyone got underway.
8 first timers and 11 shiny new PBs
This week we welcomed 8 juniors to Florence Park for the first time.
A very warm welcome to all of you! We hope you enjoyed your first visit and that we'll see you back on the start line again soon.
Meanwhile, 11 juniors recorded new Personal Bests. Congratulations to every one of you!
Of course, junior parkrun isn't only about going faster. Whether you sprint, run, jog, walk, or employ a carefully calculated combination of all four, completing 2k on a Sunday morning is an achievement in itself.
Just the one wristband this week
Run Director Luke had one milestone wristband to award this Sunday.
Congratulations to Sam, who received a wristband for completing 10 junior parkruns!
Ten Sunday mornings, 20 kilometres, and one very well-earned wristband.
Nicely done, Sam!
There was another small but important cause for celebration this week.
We didn't lose a single finish token!
Every numbered token handed out at the finish found its way back to us, ready to be sorted into order and pressed into service again next Sunday.
It may not earn anyone a wristband, but anyone who has ever had to hunt for a missing parkrun token knows this is an achievement worth celebrating.
September is comingโฆ
Next Sunday brings us into September, the school holidays are ending, and families will be getting back into their usual routines.
So we're expecting things to get busier.
Possibly a LOT busier.
This time last year, the first Sunday in September brought an extraordinary 177 juniors to Florence Park. That became our record attendance, and it still stands today.
Will 2026 be the year we beat it?
We'll find out on Sunday!
And, of course, more juniors means we need plenty of wonderful volunteers to make the event happen safely. If you haven't volunteered before, this could be the perfect week to give it a try. No experience is needed, we'll show you what to do, and there are plenty of roles available.
So bring your barcode, bring your trainers, bring a friend, and perhaps bring an umbrellaโฆ
Although, based on this week, apparently junior parkrun has its own arrangement with the clouds.
See you in the morning ๐
