Swing Dance Summertown

Tonight (Wednesday 3rd June 2026) we invite you to join us in Summertown as we continue with Week 8 of our new term of Swing Dance Summertown Lindy Hop & Charleston Dance Classes.
Head to The Cherwell School South Site, Marston Ferry Road Oxford, OX2 6UX. We start at 7:30pm with the Beginner's class. It will be followed by a practice session and then the Intermediate class at around 8:45pm and we finish the evening with Social Dancing until 10:20pm.
The cost is £6 for Members and £10 for Non-Members for a whole night of dancing.

We have another exciting opportunity for our dancers.

Many of you already know Airlie Scott and her band Pronto Swing Quintet. Coming up on Sunday 21st June 2026 there is the Summer Jazz Fest in East Hagbourne. The address is Fleur De Lys, 30 Main Road, East Hagbourne, Didcot, OX11 9LN.

The music starts during the afternoon
1-2pm Oxford Youth Jazz Orchestra
2-3pm Pronto Swing Quintet (Swingin' hits!)
Airlie Scott Vocals, Jamie Castell-Saxes, Ed Wiles on Piano, Tim Dawes on Double Bass, Keith Fairbairn -Drums
4-6pm The Blues Explosion - 8 piece band

Those of you with good memories will remember that The Oxford Youth Jazz Orchestra are a great band of young musicians who can certainly carry a dance floor with their sound. Airlie's band follows as the central act and promises to deliver a day full of dancing fun.

The Fleur De Lys is a pub with a lot of charm and plenty of room to dance. Tickets would normally be £30 each but there are a dozen or so places for dancers that will be given free to the first people who sign up. Thank you to everyone who came out to class last night. It was very brave of everyone to chance the heat but in the end, I think we were all ok, with all the windows open, all the doors ajar and even a cool breeze coming through as evening set in.
We loved watching you in both the Beginner's class and the Intermediates, with everyone really demonstrating the progress you have made this term.
We were overjoyed to see it and hope you feel very proud of yourselves.
Many congratulations to Andrew who stepped in at short notice when Chris experienced a schedule conflict with work. Andrew really stepped up and partnered Lucy through some great moves and variations.
We look forward to seeing you at our other events this week, and hope you can join us.

We have had to change the date for this one from the 3rd Saturday to 27th June 2026 (4th Saturday).
