Thornton Hibs FC 0 Jeanfield Swifts 3

For the second time in a fortnight , Swifts faced Premier Division newcomers, Thornton Hibs this afternoon.
The three points were secured today by scoring three, as per last time round, but keeping a clean sheet too.
An unchanged Swifts team took to the field , whilst Ben Stewart returned after injury , taking a place on the bench in place of coach Chris Dodd.
On a blustery day and a fiery pitch , the opening exchanges were frantic but disjointed , Swifts looking to break at pace against a hard working home midfield and defence. Balls into the box or down the lines were repelled time after time - before a huge penalty shout was turned down as Kiffy Scott appeared to be tripped as he burst into the box on 19 minutes.
Five minutes later , however , excellent possession play saw Kyle Woolley up in support , and with keeper and teammates alike ( and the photographer - sorry Kyle) expecting a cross , he decided that the safest place for the ball was in the far corner , past a motionless keeper - 1-0.
Swifts were looking lively , a good save denied Lewis Payne , a peach of a ball in from Liam Strong just needed a touch but evaded everybody. A wee scare at the other end as a good Gary Fergus block saw the ball spin high in the air and land on the roof of Ben Swintons net , the keeper and his defence having been efficient all half .

Swifts came out looking hungry after the break - a foray upfield from Hibs brough Swinton into action from a long range shot, but minutes later , good possession in midfield released Kiffy in space down the right - the cross was good and the header from Cammy Muirhead was better as he gave the keeper no chance for 2-0 on 53 minutes.
Home goalie Jarrett was a busy man now , saving from Payne and Henderson , the homesters making a triple sub on 63 minutes in an attempt to change the game.
Swifts replaced Archie Campbell with Matthew Cullerton on 68 - Cully got into his task with his usual gusto from the off as Swifts looked to seal the points. On 72 minutes, the third , deserved, goal came - Lewis Payne played through , rounded the outrushing keeper and walked it into the empty net.
Subs Ben Stewart , Charlie Denton and Adin Philips provided fresh legs as Swifts secured the win - Ben picking up a yellow card for what looked like a perfectly timed tackle late on.
A vital 3 points - after a dominant second half - sees Swifts go into second place in the table , with 21 points from 10 games.
Thanks to our faithful support who chose a chilly Thornton to a warm house and a Scotland game on TV - really appreciated , ladies and gents.
