✨ A truly special full-circle moment ✨
Two stars of The Royal Ballet, Harris Bell and Sae Maeda, gave masterclasses earlier this month, as part of Ballet Nights’ presentation in Glasgow.
It was not only an honour for our young dancers to be taught by such incredible artists, but it was particularly special for me as a teacher to see Bertie taking part in a class led by Harris and Sae.
What made the occasion even more meaningful was that Harris himself was once a student here at the Julie Young Dance Studios. To see a former pupil return to Scotland, now an established dancer of The Royal Ballet, inspiring the next generation of dancers, was incredibly special.
Then, to watch Harris perform on stage at the beautiful Theatre Royal, Glasgow, alongside his beautiful and talented wife, Sae, as part of Ballet Nights… well, that was a very proud moment indeed. ❤️
Harris, alongside his brother and sister, Rory and Cara were all part of our Studio family for many years, and somehow it feels like only yesterday that they were all here, taking class, laughing and growing up together.
Moments like these really do make you stop and reflect on the passing of time and remind you just how precious those years spent watching our young dancers grow can be.
As teachers, we spend so much time with our students during such an important part of their lives, and then suddenly they are grown up and making their own way in the world.
Those relationships and memories stay with you forever. We may be the ones teaching the steps, but our students leave their mark on us too.
We are also so proud to see another former student, Aiden O’Brien, now forging his own path with The Royal Ballet.
To see two former students reaching such wonderful heights in their own individual journeys is incredibly special. Both journeys began many years ago with a love of dance here at our studios.
Seeing them, all these years later, reminds me just how lucky I have been to have had a small part in their journey. ❤️🩰
