Match report - Athena’s

Yesterday our Athena’s took on Darlington Locomotives at welfare park.

The athenas started the game extremely slow and invited Darlington to play their football. We came back into the game in moments of the game but just could not convert into the back of the net.

The ball just didn’t fall how we wanted it to yesterday and we move onto training on Tuesday where we welcome GRAYS Football Coaching to deliver a specific tailored session.

And look to put the wrongs right on Saturday when we face Beamish lionesses!

Win together and lose together.

Match report - Hestia’s

Hestias start the afternoon then stronger team seeing two attacks with two shots by Darcie one saved one missed.

Only 5 minutes later saw a Hestias corner played cleared by Nou Camps defence, Nirvarnas cross troubled the keeper and goal line clearance for another corner.

A backpass by Nirvarna troubled Billie leading to a scramble which Nou camp take the lead on 10 played.

A brief period of back and forth saw Hestias grow back into the game and Polly took that into her own feet when she took it past 3 players and pinged it past the keeper from outside the box!

A fantastic goal to bring it level

That took us in level at half time.

Hestias start the second with alotof pressure on nou camp.

Two quick corners see a shot cleared off the line again!

Ruby then picks up the ball and unleashed a belter of a shot to see us take the lead!

A defensive mistake see nou camp in, but Billie with a huge save to keep us ahead and the rebound was wide and over, wover.

A ball straight through sees nou camp equalise.

The rest of the second half saw Hestias huff and puff but couldn't get anything to win in!

Full time see us share the points with Wrekenton Nou Camp

Match report - Olympias

The Olympias recorded another win to continue their excellent start to the season in difficult conditions.

Early exchanges were tense and Washington got themselves into numerous dangerous positions but Sienna remained strong in goal and did extremely well to keep them at bay.

Sienna kept another clean for the second week running and also received the Opposition Player of the Week for consecutive weeks with another faultless performance with quick, accurate distribution.

Lucy put in her strongest performance of the season with yet another strong and composed shift. Work-rate, winning every tackle, an assist and remaining composed in possession meant she was a stand out performer and was a very well deserved winner of Coaches player of the match.

Lucy was well supported by Frankie who grew in confidence as the game went on and looked to drive forward at all opportunities.

Playing in her second game Pia impressed again, making sure her player was always marked and making things difficult for the opposition

Lydia was strong throughout the pitch as always, making powerful drives at the opposition and linking up well with Georgia and Ava in the final third. Her performance was capped off with an excellent finish from long range

Ava chipped in with two goals of her own and more good signs of link up play in the final third when on the break. The second goal in particular gave the opposition goalie no chance with a strong left foot finish.

Finally Georgia continued her goalscoring streak with 2 goals of her own. After coming agonisingly close in the first half on occasions she took both goals really well and can take a lot of confidence from both finishes.

The girls can be very proud of their efforts in tough conditions against a strong team

Match Report

Wearside Pinks vs Horden Ophelias

Excellent performance from our girls today and after having a week off last week the girls came back with a bang.

The first half saw chances from both sides go a miss with some fine saves from both goal keepers, along with the goal frame being rattled a few times.
At half time i told the girls to play more football on the ground as the wind was playing havoc in the first.
10 mins into the second and it was the Ophelias that broke the deadlock, the ball pin balled around the box but finally Sophia managed to get the ball away from the crowd and into the path of Georgia who struck the ball past the keeper ⚽️

2 minutes later and the Ophelias grabbed the 2nd of the game, after some excellent pressing then the link up play from Reeny and Georgia the ball fell to Rosie who found the bottom corner with a finesse finish ⚽️
The girls battled through the wind facing increasing pressure from Wearside and after a few fine saves by Lexi and defencive clearancees from Hannah and Ariana Wearside managed to grab 1 back. But it was the Ophelias that ran out winners with a solid all round display.

Well done girls a thoroughly deserved win today showing real grit and determination against a very good side 👏 keep working hard 👏

Match report - Electras

UNLUCKY NOT TO WIN!
Today the Electras will feel very hard done to as they could easily have won the game by 3 or 4 goals.
Horden started the game well passing and moving the ball very well, but the first chance of the game was for the opposition after a breakaway away but their shot trickled up to Darcy to scoop up and launch a good kick down field, from that we had a chance to score but the effort from Ella went just wide.

Horden continued to press creating chance after chance, one of which hit the post from a great strike from Eva. We looked in control and our defenders Emily and Sofia were never really troubled.
Then the goal finally came for Horden following a good corner routine. An excellent cross by Eva was stroked home nicely by Maddo 😎 1-0 to the Electras.

Half time came and Horden brought on 3 subs, we continued to push forward and with a lovely move by Ella and Eva it created space for Paige at the back post but she just couldn’t get the contact on the ball that she wanted.

The girls kept coming and another chance for Eva who was unfortunate to see her effort go past the post by a whisker again.

Paige almost scored after a very good triangle passing move created the space for her but the keeper made a good save. The opposition came forward a few times but Sofia and Daisy at the back held firm.

The Electras had another great chance but Ella’s shot was saved well by the goal keeper again.

The opponents started to come forward with a few minutes left and created a few good chances from distance and then on the break caught out the Electras defence to poke the ball past Darcy who was very unlucky not to keep a clean sheet. Full time whistle went and it was 1-1 the girls were so unlucky not to come away with all the points today.

Match report - Olympias

The Olympias continued their impressive start to the season with another commanding win

A well deserved clean sheet for Sienna in goal who again was confident in coming off her line to claim the ball and distribute quickly really stood out to earn herself the opposition player of the match.

Defensively Lucy and Frankie were solid again, marking the opposition well and not giving them an inch going forward. Both are growing in confidence and obvious improvenents can be seen each week in their partnership

Lydia capped off an excellent week with another brace with two fine finishes and a pin point corner in the first half which the defender could only turn into her own net.

Pia excelled on her debut, looking comfortable in defence and attack. A really promising performance that highlighted her potential to the team going forward to earn herself in the coach player of the match

In attack Georgia and Ava fought for every ball, constantly chasing and pressing hard which will continue to be a big focus throighout the season. Both were rewarded with a goal each with two very tidy finishes.
