🩵🤍 TRAINING REPORT | MAP KINGS WHITES U9s ⚽
Tonight the boys were back on the training pitch for another session focused on competition, sharpness and developing the habits we want to see every week.
We kicked things off with a fun, team-based competitive warm-up to get everyone moving before stepping up the intensity with some competitive 1v1 duels. From there, we moved into 3v3 small-sided games before revisiting last week's one-touch set-and-shoot drill, focusing on clean connections and placing our finishes into the corners.
We rounded off the session with a 5v5 game, followed by a penalty shootout to settle the draw! ⚽🥅
🎯 FOCUS, CONCENTRATION & STANDARDS
Following the weekend, we wanted to see a strong response from the boys in their focus, concentration and application. While there were some positive moments, we didn't quite reach the usual standards we expect in certain areas.
This will be a key focus over the coming period. We know what these boys are capable of, and the challenge now is to show those standards consistently, both in training and on matchdays.
💪 THE THINGS THAT REQUIRE ZERO TALENT
As coaches, we want to keep encouraging the things that require zero talent but make a huge difference to a team: effort, attitude, energy, listening, concentration, discipline, resilience, being on time, encouraging teammates and never giving up.
These are standards every boy can bring, regardless of ability or the opposition we face. We can't always control the result, but we can control how hard we work, how we respond to setbacks and how we support the boys around us.
That's what we want to harness and build into this group. Be hungry to improve, humble enough to listen and relentless in your effort. When things get difficult, work harder, lift your teammates and keep going.
Talent might win moments, but attitude, effort and teamwork are what we want to see every single time. 🩵🤍
🏆 TOTW | #1 🧤🛑
This week's Team of the Week goes to #1 for a fantastic response to the weekend and a return to the standards we know he can deliver.
He showed real bravery during the 1v1 duels, coming off his line confidently to claim the ball, and carried that same determination into the final 5v5 game. There were some excellent saves, followed by brilliant reactions to get back up quickly and prepare for the next challenge.
Most importantly, he gave everything throughout the session, showed courage in his decision-making and responded positively to the challenge in front of him.
A thoroughly deserved award for his attitude, resilience and willingness to keep going. Well done! 👏🧤
⚔️ NEXT UP | PLYMSTOCK UNITED U10s
Attention now turns to a very strong friendly this Sunday against Plymstock United U10s, who compete in Division 1.
It will be a great challenge and an opportunity for the boys to test themselves against tough opposition. We need every player ready to work hard, support one another and give everything from the first whistle to the last.
If things don't go our way, we never give up. We keep working, keep competing and keep fighting for each other. We want to see energy, bravery, discipline, positive communication and boys willing to do the hard work for their teammates.
Remember, effort, attitude, listening and resilience require zero talent. These are the things within our control, and the standards we want to see above anything else. The result comes second to how we approach the challenge and represent our team.
Up the Whites! 🩵🤍
