Yes, the Northwest Counties Squash Winter League 2025 to 2026 has finally come to an end and what a ride it has been, so thank you so much to everyone who played. 👏👏👏👏

With most of our teams moving up in divisions from last year, the quality of opponent was upped significantly, so the beginning of the season was quite the rollercoaster. 😆😆😆😆

Though it took a while for our teams to adjust to the higher levels of opponent, we kept getting better and better, gradually building the victories. Now, through everyone’s efforts, Hoppers squash teams have finished the the season with respectable mid table rankings all round. 🙌🙌🙌🙌

So, well done and thank you to everyone who played and helped to organise the season. We couldn’t do anything without all the time and support you all put into Preston Grasshoppers Squash, so thank you. 👍👍👍👍

Thankfully we won’t have to wait too long before more competitive play with our Summer League starting later this month. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Hoppers takes on the Army!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Its time once more for our yearly Hoppers vs Army matchup, where members of our local armed forces Squash Team come down to Hoppers for a friendly game between clubs. 🙌🙌🙌🙌

It’s always a great time for both clubs so we are all really looking forward to it!!! 👏👏👏👏

This week we have some photos from Blackburn Northern and Squash Club who played our away teams over the last 2 weeks… and wow did they have some strong players. 💪💪💪💪

While the 4ths didn’t have the best night last week, one of our youngest members Ollie managed to prevail 3 – 2. Ollie has only played a season of competitive Squash so him digging deep to beat a more experienced opponent is a huge win for him so well done Ollie. 👏👏👏👏

Big shout out to Kirby from the 1sts who had the only win against last week. 👍👍👍👍

This week wasn’t much better for the Hoppers Teams with losses for all our teams, except our 3rds. While it wasn’t the best week, it was great to see Rob from 2nds putting in a marathon 5 game effort 🥵🥵🥵🥵 to get the win in his match against Blackburn Northern. 🙌🙌🙌🙌

Its now 2 weeks before the season comes to an end and while we’re coming off a loss we are going to storm forward, get the wins and finish on a high! 🤩🤩🤩🤩

This week, along with St Annes, we will be facing Blackburn Northern on home turf so we will have a chance for vengeance!!!!

Another few weeks and some more eventful games, made all the more intense because we’ve had so many injuries!🤕🤕🤕🤕

But Hoppers are built different and not only have we persevered, we have had some great results, with all teams winning their games in week 20 and only losing one game against last week.

This week was a little tougher however, with our teams having some great games but unfortunately losing to , on and .

You can’t win them all though, but luckily, with injuries quickly healing, we are on course to be back to full team strength soon. 💪💪💪💪

So, we wish everyone a speedy recovery (though preferably before next week please😂😂😂😂) and will see you all Thursday for some more games! 👍👍👍👍

Our friends at are hosting a squash tournament at Liverpool Cricket Club on the 28th of March and all players of all abilities are welcome.🎾🎾🎾🎾

Very proud that our junior squash players had their first experience of competitive squash at Wigan Squash Open Day a few weeks go.🎾🎾🎾🎾

Hoppers juniors has seen a great uptake in new players over the year and we now have around 15 regular junior players. 🥳🥳🥳🥳

Squash is a fantastic sport for all ages and abilities and, with the wet and windy UK weather, is perfect for being an indoor all year round sport. 👍👍👍👍

Many thanks to our coaches, who volunteer their time every week and hopefully bring Hoppers our champions of the future. 🙌🙌🙌🙌

It’s been a chaotic 3 weeks of competitive matches here at Hoppers, so a big thank you goes out to all the players who have been driving and travelling up and down the North West for their games.👍👏👍👏

It has all been worth it though as we have gone from 4 losses in one week to 3 wins on the bounce for our 1sts and 2nds and 2 straight wins for our 3rds. 💪💪💪💪

Some of those wins come from our second round of internal matches where our 4ths beat the 5ths and 2nds beat our 3rds across some pretty competitive games. 🙌🙌🙌🙌

While it’s been intense, only our 1sts and 4ths are playing next week because of the half term and rescheduling of games, so hopefully everyone else can get some rest, though considering how restless all our players are, they’ll probably create a spontaneous internal tournament and play anyway!!! 😉😉😉😉

We can’t complain here at Hoppers as we began the second half of our Winter League in style winning 4 out of 5 of our first games back. 🥇🥇🥇🥇

Of course we also hit a slight new year snag with 4 losses last week, but we can put that on getting the Christmas rust off, though Colin seems to have shaken it off faster than the rest of us hitting a 21-19 game against Thornton 2nds so well done to him for his endurance. 👍👍👍👍

It’s great to be back and seeing our players on court, so we are looking forward to the next few months of games and taking on the rest of the divisions. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
