A little more about me, the person behind Olaïa 🤍

I wanted to share something a little more personal and relatable. Some of you might just be here for the classes, but others might like to know who’s behind it all. Behind every small business is a normal person putting their heart into something, and this is a little of my story.

I’ve spent my career in finance and corporate environments, including almost eight years at a luxury entertainment company, looking after the finances, the team and the operations. I worked with incredibly talented, creative people, but it was a stressful career too, and part of what led me here.

I have spent many years learning about wellness, the mind & the natural ways to heal your body.

We all find joy differently. I wanted to create somewhere we can grow slowly, try new things and make time for ourselves, whether through movement, creativity or simply a coffee and a chat.

I’ve brought my personality into Olaïa. Warm, welcoming and relaxed, with rustic textures and little touches of luxury. Somewhere that feels like home, where you can put your phone away, slow down and feel looked after.

Outside the studio, I love fresh air, adventures, good coffee and country music. Family means everything to me, and I have a small circle of very special friends who I love and care about deeply. You might already know my mum, Sue, the bubbly one always making friends in class!

I work full time alongside Olaïa to support it and keep it well looked after. I’m learning as I go, on this journey with you all. I love meeting new people, helping others and seeing people smile.

I’ll be at the studio tomorrow evening between 6 and 7pm if you fancy popping by to see the studio or ask any questions.

What brings me the most joy is the feeling this space gives to others.
Someone leaving a little calmer, growing in confidence or finding a new friend makes all the effort worthwhile. I hope you feel that care when you walk through the door, and that you always feel there’s a place here for you.

For our first autumn and winter at Olaïa, we’re embracing our favourite seasons with something to bring friendly faces together and keep you feeling connected as the days grow shorter and colder.

Think our cosy studio, the warmth of infrared heating, feel-good movement and time spent creating together. More Roots Club workshops and some exciting, unexpected events are still to come…

From 07.10, we’ll reveal one leaf each week for 12 weeks. Each represents a little ritual of movement, creativity, connection or kindness, with different ways to take part around your interests and diary.

We are so excited to welcome the incredibly talented Kate Illustrate to The Roots Club for a beautifully festive afternoon of creativity, relaxation and a little Christmas magic.

Kate is an illustrator, calligrapher and hand-painted designer whose gorgeous work is loved by many. During this intimate two-hour workshop, she’ll guide you step by step as you create two beautifully hand-painted w**e glasses to take home and bring out every Christmas. 🎄
