There are some moments in coaching that mean a little more than others.

I started coaching Holly when she was just 8 years old. Ten years later, she has achieved three A grades at A Level and secured a place at her first-choice university, the University of Warwick.

And she has done all of that alongside an incredible sporting journey.

Holly is proof that academic success and sporting ambition don’t have to be an either/or decision.

But what you see today is the result.

What you don’t see are the 10 years behind it.

The weekly coaching sessions. The group training. The competitions. The wins and losses. Training through GCSEs and A Levels. And an incredibly supportive family who have committed to the journey every step of the way.

Player. Parents. Coach.

Working together consistently, for the long term.

Supporting Holly’s development over the last decade is one of the things I am most proud of in my coaching career — not simply because of the player she has become, but because of the person she has become too.

We’re excited to be launching a new weekly junior badminton session at The Forest School in Winnersh.

🏸 Beginner to intermediate players

Whether your child is completely new to badminton or already has some experience, this session will help them build strong technical foundations, develop confidence and progress through VPBA’s clear player pathway.

What a weekend for Berkshire Senior 1st Team 🤯🔥

After a strong season to secure our place in the Senior County Championships Division 1 play-offs, the team went one step further… topping the play-off table and earning promotion into the Championship Division — for the first time ever 🙌

As you can see from the results, this was no easy task. Tight matches, big moments, and a real team effort across the board — exactly what you need at this level.

This achievement is a reflection of the commitment, resilience, and quality within the squad. Every player who stepped on court this season has played a part in getting us here, and that depth made all the difference when it mattered most.

A huge thank you also goes to everyone behind the scenes — the organisers, supporters, and those who keep everything running week in, week out. These moments don’t happen without that foundation.
