Recently a customer was comparing an online purchase only bike (identity protected) vs Dimanche. This made me think about the differences (cost, experience, service etc) for the whole life of the bicycle which I believe is a very important point to consider.

Now I cannot take credit for this, but a recent article by reminded me of the key points to consider when comparing the two purchasing methods:

1: You’re not just buying a bike but also buying access to all the service and support you’ll need along the way. Having a local point of contact for maintenance, repairs, and warranty claims offers a ton of value.

2: When you go with a Bosch e-bike, you're getting a top-quality motor system that comes with perks like sophisticated
diagnostic reports.

3: And importantly, should your Bosch motor system ever be discontinued, Bosch guarantees the availability of batteries and spare parts for six years after the end-of-product-life

Whilst bikes are cheaper to purchase online, I think it is really important (considering the investment made) to consider where /how you purchase your next . This is reinforced by a recent setup of a dropper seat post on a new bike, which if purchased online would have been considerably more challenging to manage.

Welcome to Velospeed! My name is Mike and today I wanted to share with you my experiences of an excellent holiday in France. For years I had heard about the French flocking to ile-de-Ré as it is an ideal seaside resort with excellent beaches and away from the big cities of France which is on the west coast of France by La Rochelle.

The highlights of the island include; 10 villages on one island, the oysters (however I am not partial to these), the scenery, the food, the salt marshes and most importantly the paths just for bicyclists that criss-cross the whole island.

We stayed in a wonderful hotel in Saint-Martin-de-Ré and were treated to spectacular classic cars cruising along the French West Coast.

The highlight for us was the bicycling our Moustache bikes up and down the island totaling 120km over the 4 days. Top tip here, remember to pack your battery charger or you will be on saver mode all the time. The bikes Moustache XRoad 7 and Samedi 28.3 were perfect for the mixed terrain paths (road and gravel) covering the distances in no time at all.

If like me you enjoy the finer things in life, I cant recommend enough the combination of good food, fine wines and stunning scenery that Ile de Ré offered.

Welcome to Velospeed! My name is Mike and today I want to introduce you to our new Oxford store at Yarnton near Kidlington, Oxford. We are electric bike experts and have been selling these wonderful machines since 2009.
Expanding on our successful store in Yattendon, West Berkshire, we were approached to open a concession at the Yarnton Garden centre from what was previously a kitchen showroom. In this shop we really want to showcase the bicycles in a different, more vibrant way and are currently midway through a shop refit (some of which can be seen in the attached photo). We think it will let customers see the bikes in a pleasant environment without being too crowded.
As with our Yattendon shop, customers can try bikes on the roads in the surrounding area. We have a large selection of electric bikes on show, including bikes from:

- Batribike
- Urban Arrow
Unlike online retailers, we offer a face-to-face, personal service, ensuring that customers get a cycle that is the right fit for their needs, fully assembled and checked with the possibility of home delivery.
The team at Velospeed includes John and Nick the original founders, Paul the mechanic and myself Mike all here to offer you that individual customer facing service that we are renowned for.

Welcome to Velospeed, my name is Mike and today one of the original Moustache Lundi electric bikes sold by us back in 2016 to Frost Meadowcroft, a commercial property agency in London, came in for a long needed service. What was interesting about this (especially given COP27 and current environment concerns), was how much the bike is used at Frost Meadowcroft. Rather than using taxis and public transport (with resulting pollution), their staff use the bike to travel around London visiting office buildings and meeting clients onsite (something I am sure we will all be encouraged to do more in the future). As you can see, the bike has had thousands of miles put on it and in many ways reminds me of the patina of Royal Mail vans bleached with the sun (something I personally like the look of). If like FM, you have environmental concerns and want to do your bit towards helping the environment, come see us here at Velospeed (either at our Oxford or Yattendon stores) and we would love to demonstrate to you the benefits and convenience of owning an electric bike.
