Trismooth had its first event yesterday at merchant Taylor’s . A glorious afternoon for the biathlon, the set up, support team and participants all excellent. Thank-you all , looking forward to the next 🏊 🚲 🏃.

Pain Free Movement.
"oh running is bad for the knees isn't it"
"oh your joints can't take running at your age"

These are words as a runner you have probably heard, sadly normally from someone that is a little envious maybe of what you have achieved but not sure what to do , or worried about their own pains.
It is a massive generalisation, as some runners will never have an injury, some will have a genetic dispostion to injury, some have bad luck tripping up (guilty m'lord), some will have footwear that puts a hip off balance and some will be running "wonky" which in the long term sends of a cascade of issues round the body.

The form fascinates me, I was very lucky to work with someone who could explain the biomachanics of our body's movements (she explained , I retained a little) , our body is so clever, if we look after it, take care of our posture, allow it to move naturally, there is not reason why movement cannot be pain free.

Where are you going with this Bo, I hear you cry?
Well following on from yesterday, lets start by making sure we warm our body up before any movement.
Let's listen and observe our body? How is our posture? Can I relax those shoulders and let the pelvis lead the way?

Being pain free running is a joy we sometimes take for granted, be kind to your body!

Why does she insist that we warm up before EVERY run??
I am very fortunate that I have warmed up A LOT of people since I qualified, the warm up part of the qualification was not new to me due to my experience, but l know it is still a hot topic with runners.

The Science of it is simple, you are getting your blood pumping to all the muscles that will need it for the run so they are ready to go, along with that the joints are mobilised ready for extension and impact.

The actual reality of it is not so obvious to all.
To most runners unless they are in a club or have had some coaching , the idea of warming up is a bit confusing , should I walk, touch my toes? So it is put to one side. You might be new to running or the fortunate
ones that have never had an injury.

The rest of us learn the hard way, and develop a routine that gives the body some kind of warning that something is coming and we want the best from our body.

This can range from just a 5 minute walk to 20 mins of dynamic knee and hip movments.

But let's just say, nothing bad will happen if you do warm up, and you never know you might not only avoid injury but get a PB!

It's 24 hours till the next RUNFIT at beautiful Woodoaks farm.
This is my highlight of the week.
It is a small friendly group mixing coaching and fun, not a led run, this allows me to give all that come coaching through all of the session.
We generally finish with a Q&A (have to remind them its jun running related not relationships) and some run focused strength, conditioning and flixibilty.

Looking to improve your running?
You would be suprised how many people think this is what they want until they realise that running the same run week in and week out doesn't give them the results and have to adpat.
Any progression to your running needs to be planned, there are generic plans very easy to find on the internet now and if you good at following and or sticking to a plan then it is likely that you will get some results.
But if you want that guaranteed you really need to think about personalised plans from a coach.

🏃‍♀️ USED TO RUN? COMING BACK ISN'T ALWAYS EASY.

Maybe you ran years ago.

Then life happened.

Work.
Family.
Injuries.
Time pressures.
A change in priorities.

🏃‍♀️ NEW TO RUNNING? DON'T START TOO FAST.

One of the biggest things I have picked up on with new runners is doing too much, too soon.

You feel motivated.
You feel amazing, lets just add a little bit on..

…and then your knees hurt, your legs are exhausted and you don't want to run again for a week. 😩

A running coach helps you build your running gradually.

We look at where you really are not where you think you should be.

Then we build your fitness step by step.

Because becoming a runner isn't about smashing yourself every time you go out.

It's about giving your body enough of the right training to adapt and get stronger.

🏃‍♀️ Start where you are.
💪 Build gradually.

That's how you become a runner for the long term.

3 levels from the UK Athletics Run Together Program
Get Me Started=new to running or returning from an absence
Keep Me Moving = Lets get some progression going
Challenge Me= Ok I need a bit of a push here to achieve my next goal.
And lastly a 5km weekly trail run for all abilities
