What a night, what an amazing group of people! Mid Week League race 2, the rain managed to stop just before the start, which made for a great night of racing. A huge thanks to all our volunteers, without you it wouldn’t of been possible 🖤❤️🖤❤️

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community without a huge time commitment? We still need Event Directors and Run Directors to join the amazing volunteer team and help us launch junior parkrun in Royston.

You’ll be fully supported with training, and on your week it takes a small time commitment to help make the whole event happen.

If you want to support local children, boost their confidence, and be part of something joyful each Sunday — we’d love your help.

Running a marathon is never easy, the endless hours of training through the winter really makes you question why you signed up.

However, once on that start line of London Marathon there is no feeling quite like it, a mix of nerves and excitement. You’re surrounded by thousands of people, all with their own reasons for being there.

My run was all about personal challenge, and when the run got tough it was knowing I could get tougher, dragging myself round for a 19 second Pb in 3:31 mins.

Marathons are not always about times but about experience and enjoyment. You see the best in humanity and thousands of people all sharing a common goal working through the tough bits towards that finish line.

I would say if you are tempted, get out there and enter one, you never know you might just love it!!

Well done to Kelvin who completed - NODNOL - So what is is?

NODNOL is Takeshi’s Castle for runners. Imagine an obstacle course where the obstacles are:
Starting at midnight
Running through the pitch black
Navigating London’s painfully uneven, cobble-choked streets that seem personally designed to trip you
Being hunger-stricken by mile 8 because your pre-race meal was just a dream and a slightly squashed banana

But here’s the brilliant bit: it’s run by an amazing community of like-minded lunatics who all chose to sign up for “running backwards-ish in the dark on cobbles” instead of, say, getting a good night’s sleep. We’re all slightly mad, slightly frozen, slightly hungry, and 100% committed to the bit.
And the best part? You get a medal.

"This kinda fits my personal mantra: “Sleep is optional and rest is overrated.” 😴🚫

I joined around 2,000 like-minded ‘crazy’ people for a glorious, slightly unhinged giggle, running around London in the dark, armed with nothing but questionable navigation skills (because, yes, I forgot my watch — performance-enhancing confusion, anyone?). The course was basically Takeshi’s Castle meets ultra-running: imagine 26.2 miles through the very uneven cobbled streets of London, in the pitch black, backwards, dodging curbs, bin lids, bewildered pedestrians, and the occasional very enthusiastic drunk person who thought you were part of their late-night street theatre act.

Every step was a gamble:

Try not to face-plant on the cobbles (not all of us succeeded).

Try not to get lost in the dark labyrinth of London’s backstreets.

Try not to laugh too hard when someone behind you yells, “Are we even going the right way?” and nobody has the first clue.

I reached the end...presented myself with a medal and set off to find a cafĂŠ. After a full English I met the Royston runners coach to embark on a full day of supporting. Cracking day.
