A tough away trip to Whitnash today for our second meeting in as many weeks, made harder by having no substitutes for the full 50-minute match. All the hard work on summer fitness was certainly tested, and the lads dug in well to play the duration with zero rotation.
First Half: We started strongly, defending well and using the wings effectively to create several good openings that only narrowly missed. Great to have Emmanuel back following injury—he put in an excellent shift in defence to earn Player of the Match.
Second Half: Kept up the pressure, resulting in a great goal from Alex down the right—his first of the season.
A solid effort all round and great character shown by the whole squad to keep pushing right to the end.

⚽️ Great game for the U8 Raiders! ⚽️

This team are flying this season! ✈️

Myles started in goal and made some great saves, while Edwin and Bertie put in some crucial tackles. Isaac was looking dangerous and getting some shots away.

Unfortunately, the Raiders went in at half-time behind, but they didn’t give up! 💪

Jacob then took over in goal and produced some great goalkeeping, making important saves. Yanis put in some excellent running down the wing, while George made some crucial blocks as Kenilworth really started to put the pressure on.

What a brilliant team effort from the boys—great character, determination and teamwork from start to finish! 👏⚽️🟡🔵

Match Report | Raiders vs Maine FC

Another away game for the boys, and another opportunity to build on the progress they’ve been making.

The boys were asked to start the game in the same way we finished last week — with energy, pressure and confidence. The Raiders did exactly that!

It was end-to-end football, with some strong attacking play from both teams making for an exciting game. Nick, Joel, Jax, Hugo and Oli started the game and immediately applied plenty of pressure.

Hugo and Oli linked up brilliantly from the start, creating chances and causing problems for the opposition. Jax and Joel carried the ball really well up the pitch, with Jax showing an extra level of confidence and composure on the ball.

Taò came on up top and worked tirelessly, putting pressure on the keeper and defenders and making sure they had no easy options.

In the second half, Owen came on at the back and made some powerful and useful runs forward, helping to turn defence into attack.

Hugo and Taò were on together and worked really well as a pair, creating more opportunities and showing good understanding.

For the final 10 minutes, Oli and Hugo came back onto the pitch and really stepped up. The football they played together was fantastic and showed exactly what this Raiders team is capable of! 🔥⚽

Players of the Match

Parents’ POTM – Oli & Hugo 🏆
A joint award this week, and I couldn’t agree more! The two of them linked up so well together and made the perfect team. Their movement, passing and understanding of each other really stood out.

Managers’ POTM – Nick 🧤🏆
One of Nick’s most confident games in goal. He used his throwing and rolling brilliantly to distribute the ball, helping to start attacks and create chances for his team. A really mature performance between the sticks.

Another positive performance from the Raiders, with lots of individual improvements, some fantastic attacking football and plenty of positives to take forward.

Well done, Raiders! 💙⚽👏

Sporting Rugby U10s Gladiators Match Report

The Gladiators faced another strong test this week against an opposition who brought plenty of physicality and some impressive footwork. From the opening whistle it was clear this would be a closely contested encounter, but the boys rose superbly to the challenge and went toe-to-toe throughout.

Much like last week, the game ebbed and flowed, with momentum swinging from one side to the other. The Gladiators showed great resilience whenever they were put under pressure and responded positively, matching their opponents' intensity while continuing to play with confidence and determination.

Overall, it was a performance the squad can be very proud of. The effort, commitment and teamwork on display showed just how far this group has come, and there are plenty of signs that even more exciting things lie ahead as the season continues.

Coach's Player of the Match was Thomas, who delivered two remarkable and powerful shots, alongside a number of key deliveries that helped drive the team forward and create opportunities throughout the game.

Parents' Player of the Match went to Sam, whose excellent saves and consistently positive presence on the pitch made a huge difference. His attitude and important interventions earned well-deserved recognition.

Well done, Gladiators.

Sporting Rugby U10s – Gladiators Match Report

The Gladiators were back in action this week — and what a difference the conditions made. After last week’s wind and slopey chaos, today’s sunny weather set the stage for a much more controlled, confident performance. You could feel it from the first whistle: the boys looked sharper, more settled, and ready to show how quickly they’re adapting to the new 7‑aside structure and U10s age group.

They started strong, moving the ball with real purpose. There were great passes through midfield, determined runs up the wings, and some excellent breaks that opened up chances. The opposition were tough and well‑organised, and the game swung back and forth throughout — genuinely one that could have gone either way. But the Gladiators stayed in it, stayed focused, and kept driving forward.

What stood out most was the improvement. The boys showed they’re not just coping with the step up — they’re growing into it. More structure, more confidence, more teamwork. A performance full of promise.

Two players earned special recognition:

- Coaches’ Player: Farouk — full of drive, constantly pushing forward, and getting off some excellent shots. He created danger every time he got on the ball.
- Parents’ Player: Petru — persistent, brave, and always looking for the opportunity. His great shots and never‑give‑up attitude made a real impact.

A brilliant step forward for the Gladiators. The team are clearly settling into the new age group, and we’re excited to see them continue to grow in the matches ahead.

🔥 A TALE OF TWO HALVES! 🔥

What a way for our U11 Spartans to kick off the new season! 💙💛

It was a tough opening half against a strong and well-organised opposition. We were a little slow out of the blocks and found ourselves chasing the game early on.

But then came the second half… 👀🔥

Whatever was said at half-time clearly did the trick! The Spartans came out a completely different team, taking control of the game, moving the ball brilliantly and putting the opposition under serious pressure. 💪⚽️

⚽️ Hayden got us back into the game with a fantastic brace — scoring our first two goals of the season on his debut! What a start! 👏🔥

⚽️ Joe kept the momentum going with a clinical finish!

⚽️ Felix then added another superb strike, showing great composure in front of goal.

The character, determination and teamwork shown in that second half were fantastic to see. 💙💛

⚽️💙 RAIDERS AWAY DAY! 💙⚽️

The Raiders headed out for an away game, taking on Sky Blues in the Community on a big pitch — and the boys were excited to get plenty of time on the ball!

Owen did a fantastic job in goal, while Joel and Jax kept things calm and composed at the back. Oli worked tirelessly in midfield before swapping with Hugo, while Taò worked hard up front, applying pressure and tracking back to help defend.

It was also great to see Jaxon back in action after a couple of weeks out! 💙Half-time message: “QUICKER!”

Could we do everything quicker?

The phrase that really clicked for the Raiders was:

“Hand on and play!”

And the boys took it into the second half brilliantly.

Oli stepped into goal and did a superb job, while Hugo and Taò linked up really well. The quicker play created plenty of chances and the boys were loving it.

At the back, Owen, Jax and Joel controlled things brilliantly, driving the ball forward and helping the Raiders build pressure and create more opportunities.

PLAYERS OF THE MATCH

Taò — A real step up in confidence and skill this week! He used his speed brilliantly in both attack and defence, took his opportunities well and showed a fantastic improvement in his all-round game.

Hugo — Relentless work in midfield, creating chances for his teammates and showing some fantastic footwork. He was dangerous every time he got on the ball!

A brilliant effort from the whole Raiders squad. Lots of hard work, great teamwork, plenty of chances and — most importantly — plenty of smiles! 👏💙

Well done, Raiders! 🏉💙
