Mike and Dan had a fun weekend sprinting at Curborough courtesy of the Organisers and Marshals of Nottingham Sports Car Club ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ™Œ

Danโ€™s report from the weekendโ€ฆ

Saturday was the figure of eight layout, and Dad had another mystery sideways moment on the very first corner (long fast left hander) causing Dad to take a โ€œrally lineโ€ and mount a small bank with the rear of the car, which wiped out the right side of the diffuser. Despite skepticism from the scrutineers, we managed to repair it with aluminium and lots of tape! We got 2 timed runs in the day to rebuild confidence. Dad won the class by 3 seconds and got 3rd overall.

Sunday we started off a little more cautiously following Dadโ€™s stage rallying attempt on Saturday, building up to better times eventually. Unfortunately we only got two timed runs with delays from rain, accidents, and ice cream vans. I managed 1st in class by 1 second, 2nd overall. Although neither of us improved on our PBs from April. We wish the Honda Civic driver a Speedy recovery after his off.

Many thanks to Dad and The Buck & Bell for making this weekend happen, and especially mum for letting me have a go! ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ™Œ

Sunday had us sweltering at Mallory Park and the leaf blower came in handy not just to keep the car cool in the queue, but also the crew. We also tried to cool the tyres with wet tea towels during driver changes which helped.
The times just werenโ€™t there on Sunday. Mike had a half spin at Devils elbow as he tried to keep it flat on the first qualifying run, and then had another spin coming out of Edwinaโ€™s chicane on the next timed run. The next two runs were tidy but he couldnโ€™t beat Saturdayโ€™s times and ended the day with a fastest time of day 69.02secs.
Cathy was consistent with a 77+secs on all 4 runs of the day, her aim was to build confidence back up while being smooth and not crash! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks to the awesome crew Josh Marchantt, Holly Malpass-Weaver, Dan and Jack ๐Ÿ™Œ

Massive thanks to sponsor The Buck & Bell and Chris Bull who made it possible for us to rebuild the car and have it back out at Mallory in time. ๐Ÿ™

Thanks to the Organisers and Marshalls of Sheffield and Hallamshire Motor Club. ๐Ÿ

The car ran faultlessly today after all the hard work getting it back together, and Mike set a new PB of 67.59secs beating his previous Saturday times here by 8secs! ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ช
Cathy meanwhile was starting to regain confidence improving each run and finished the day on a 74.35secs. Weโ€™ll be back out tomorrow, so letโ€™s see if Mike can get closer to the sharp end, he would need to find another 6secs! to be up with the top boys๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿš€ ๐Ÿซฃ

Thanks to the crew today Josh Marchant, Holly Malpass-Weaver, Dan and Jack ๐Ÿ™Œ

All is well so far with 2 runs done. Mike has a new pb of 69.52sec, and Cathy is off the pace taking time to get back into it after crashing at Pembrey. See what we can do this afternoon ๐ŸŽ๏ธ

Itโ€™s been a busy few weeks! Mikeโ€™s worked late most nights to put the car back together, and we have made it to Mallory Park Circuit for some more rounds of British Sprint Championship this weekend.

Huge thanks to Chris Bull for making all the new aero parts, when the pressure was on! ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ

Cathy's 1st timed run on the Sat morning, qualifying 7th for the British Sprint Championship run off with a 100.96 secs her fastest time around Pembrey so far, which also won 1st in Class for the day despite crashing out on the last run. This is far from perfect but bare in mind we only get 1&3/4 practice lap in sprinting before the timed runs, so it's a matter of perfecting lines and braking as you go throughout the day while trying to push as hard as you dare, which is all part of the challenge and fun of sprinting. ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ

Cathy crash testing yesterday on the last run and the car did its job! But we now have a lot of work to do before Mallory in a couple of weeks ๐Ÿ˜”๐ŸŽ๏ธ
Huge thanks to BARC officials, marshals, rescue and ambulance crew. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘

We travelled across to Pembrey for the BARC Summer Sprint weekend but unfortunately our weekend has been cut short and the car is now on the trailer, after Cathy stacked it into a tyre barrier on the last run of the day. Both drivers qualified and competed in the first run off to score points, with Cathy just pipping Mikes times. In the afternoon Mike scored in the run off while er hem Cathy visited the scenery, the evidential damage pictured below. Despite the carnage Cathy picked up 1st in class with a 100.96secs while Mike posted 103secs over the day.

Thanks to Josh Marchant and Holly Malpass-Weaver for running the car. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Huge thank you to the organisers, marshals, rescue and ambulance crew.

Cathy was fine but car is going to need a lot of TLC! ๐ŸŽ๏ธ

Thanks to The Buck & Bell for their support๐Ÿ™Œ
