St Helens fans say it was 'surreal' to meet Wayne Rooney at pub Paul Styles says meeting the former England striker at his local pub was like an out-of-body experience.

Some people are questioning us saying he’s in The States. Well, we can confirm that he was actually in The Griffin Inn on Saturday by the fact that it was definitely him 😆

Anyway it’s in the paper now, so must be true 😉xx

🗣️”Buzzing to have been promoted. Going back-to-back is a fantastic achievement at any level, and it’s something both myself and the lads are incredibly proud of.

Like any club, we had our ups and downs throughout the season, but to secure promotion against the odds shows the character and determination we have within this squad. On our day, we can compete with anyone.

We’re looking forward to what next season brings and are ready for the challenge ahead. Hopefully, it will be another successful year both on and off the pitch.”

We are delighted to announce that St Helens Town AFC have been promoted to the Cheshire Premier Division!

Our 3rd place finish in Division One secures back-to-back promotions and marks another significant step forward as we continue to build a stable and successful . 💙

🗣️ “I am super proud of this bunch of lads and everyone associated with the club.

Back to back promotions is not an easy task and add to that only losing six league games over two seasons is an unbelievable effort.

Now to test ourselves in the Cheshire Prem.”
