FTX Logistics Ltd instructor Colin Turnock recently led another team up to Forces Manor to construct the new Adventure Training (AT) Hub.
Colin writes:
Visit 6 to Forces Manor saw us return to site to take on the construction of the new AT Hub, creating a lasting facility that will benefit the veteran community.
I would like to personally say a massive thank you to the team members, Stuart Brunskill, Jamie McLaughlin, Simon Mulderig and Tony McMullan.
The project ran from 7th to 18th September 2026, and despite the weather, the team worked incredibly hard to complete the build within the planned period.
From the first pieces of timber through to the completed building, these guys have put an incredible amount of effort into the project.
They have also learned new skills, taken on jobs outside their normal experience and, most importantly, stuck together as a team and got the job done.
The work included the structural timber frame, OSB sheathing, breathable membrane, roof structure, profiled metal roof, external cladding, windows, doors, guttering and all the associated structural and finishing works.
Looking back at the photographs from the start of the build to the finished AT Hub, the transformation is something the guys should be extremely proud of.
As Project Lead, my role was to provide guidance, support and help the guys through some of the challenges they faced. But ultimately, they are the ones who put in the hours, learned the skills and physically built this building.
What they've achieved in the time available has been fantastic.
We would also wish to say a huge thank you to Tony Brown, owner of Forces Manor, for all his help, support and practical assistance throughout the project.
Tony's support was invaluable and helped us overcome challenges and keep the project moving.
We also want to thank all the veterans at Forces Manor who supported us from day one.
We would also like to thank the veterans who kept us fed, watered and looked after us throughout the whole visit.
