🎾🏆 Abbeydale Success Continues …
Congratulations also to Abbeydale members Richard and Phoebe Lockham, who continued their excellent week by winning the Mixed Doubles Handicap title. After losing the first set, they fought back brilliantly to claim victory 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.

🎾🏆 Abbeydale Tennis Club Celebrates Championship Success 🏆🎾
The Academy Tennis and Club would like to congratulate Abbeydale coach Alex Jinks on an outstanding performance at the 2026 Sheffield & District Championships, where he captured both the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles titles.
This latest success means Alex has now won:
🏅 Men’s Singles Champion – 4 times (including the last three consecutive years)
🏅 Men’s Doubles Champion – 5 times
🎾 Men’s Singles Champion
Alex’s journey to the title was anything but straightforward. His semi-final against top seed Conor Tordoff was suspended on Friday evening due to fading light, with the match finely balanced at one set all. Returning on Saturday, Alex showed incredible resilience and determination, edging the deciding match tie-break 10-6 to secure his place in the final.
He then produced a sensational display in the final against Bailey Cole, winning 6-2, 6-1 in commanding fashion to lift the Men’s Singles trophy.
🎾 Men’s Doubles Champion
Alex teamed up with Conor Tordoff in the Men’s Doubles final against Thomas Everest Wilcock and Aidan Robson. In a high-quality contest, Alex and Conor held their nerve to take both sets 7-5, 7-5, securing the championship title and adding another trophy to Alex’s remarkable record.
