🏆 LEE WATTS U14s CUP Champions 🏆

What a day for Rockspur Girls U14s at the Penrhiwceiber Festival, competing in the prestigious Lee Watts U14s Cup.

In testing conditions, the girls faced five group games and produced an incredible display of football:

- ⚽ Rockspur 4–0 Treharris Ath Western
- ⚽ Rockspur 1–0 Coity Chiefs
- ⚽ Rockspur 5–0 Treforest
- ⚽ Rockspur 2–0 Thornhill Athletic
- ⚽ Rockspur 1–0 Llanrumney Utd

Going into today, we challenged the girls on their mindset, desire, and earning the right to play football. We wanted a fast start, to be aggressive without the ball, and to impose our style of play from the first whistle.

They didn't just meet those expectations—they completely exceeded them.

Without exaggeration, this was the best football we've seen this team play since it was formed. Every player was outstanding, and it was fantastic to hear coaches from other teams praising the quality of our football throughout the day.

A special mention goes to our new signing Georgie, who enjoyed a dream debut. She was a constant threat, showed tremendous strength, scored goals, linked play brilliantly, and looked as though she'd been part of this team for years.

Managers' Player of the Day went to Georgie, who had a sensational debut. Well done, Georgie – thoroughly deserved!

The whole squad deserves recognition:

🧤 Sofia O – Superb in goal and so assured throughout the day.🩵

Connie – Solid as a rock. Nothing was getting past her.🩵

Kadie – A true captain's performance.🩵

Josie – Commanded the back line brilliantly until suffering an unfortunate injury. Wishing you a speedy recovery. 💙🩵

Megan – A top-class performance across the park.🩵

Poppy – Endless energy and some fantastic runs down the wing.🩵

Lottie – A constant danger and linked play superbly in attack.🩵

Willow – Controlled the midfield and won everything.🩵

Bennetts – Powerful, devastating on the ball, and worked just as hard without it.🩵

Georgie – Total Strikers performance-sensational debut that couldn't have gone any better.

An equally incredible achievement was keeping five clean sheets in normal time, with the defence and Sofia providing the perfect platform for the team.

The final saw us face hosts Penrhiwceiber Girls in a physical, competitive contest where both teams gave absolutely everything.

After an excellent final, it was penalties that separated the sides.

🏆 Rockspur Girls won 4–3 on penalties!

The winning moment came thanks to an outstanding save from Sofia O, securing the Lee Watts Trophy for Rockspur.

Words simply can't do today's performances justice. It was total football from every single player, and the interplay and one/twos were to die for. If this is a sign of what's to come, the season ahead is incredibly exciting. We couldn't be prouder of every one of the girls.

A huge thank you to Penrhiwceiber Girls for a fantastic final and to everyone at the club for organising such a well-run festival. We are honoured to lift a trophy that celebrates the memory of Lee Watts, and we wish everyone at the club the very best for the new season. 👏 Also a big thanks to all the teams today, where girls football was the winner 👏

Finally, a massive thank you to all of our parents, families and supporters. Once again, your support throughout the day was absolutely outstanding and means so much to the team. 👏

Now we look ahead with real excitement to the new season.
