Beth Cox - Core Patterns Gentle movement and pain support in Swansea, for people who want to feel safer and more confident in their body.

Core Patterns is a space for people living with pain, tension, or a body they don’t fully trust anymore. I help people in Swansea find a gentler way back into movement, without pushing, forcing, or fear of flare-ups. My work has two main strands:

✨ Restore Your Core®
Slow, supportive movement to help you feel stronger and more supported, especially if you’ve been worried about hurting yourself or making things worse.

💚 Dial Down Your Pain
Support for people living with persistent pain, focusing on understanding pain, calming the nervous system, and changing the patterns that keep pain switched on. Everything I offer is pain-informed, trauma-aware, and designed for real bodies and real lives.

Do you know someone who's hypermobile and living with pain?

Someone who's tired of explaining their body.
Or who feels like no one quite gets it.

Core Support - Movement & Connection might be for them.

A small group for women living with hypermobility and persistent pain.
Gentle movement, breathwork, and time to talk with people who understand.

Many of the people who've joined heard about it from a friend.

So if someone comes to mind, feel free to send this their way 🧡

Next 4-week block starts Wednesday 28th October, 4:00-5:30pm, Swansea Wellbeing Centre.
£60 for the block. Payment plans are available on request.

After an injury, or a long stretch of not moving much, it's easy to feel out of condition.

Stiffer. Weaker. Less sure of what your body can do.

The usual advice is to strengthen your core.
So you try planks, sit-ups, or a class that leaves you aching for days.

But often the body is already working hard.
Holding on in places that don't need it.
Guarding the area that was hurt.

Restore Your Core starts somewhere different.
We notice where you're over-holding.
We rebuild support from the breath and the deep core, step by step.
Then we add more as your body is ready.

It's not about pushing to get back to where you were.
It's about rebuilding support your body can trust.

Less gripping. More support.

Restore Your Core, Wednesdays 9:30-10:30am, Swansea Wellbeing Centre.
Back from Wednesday 28th October.

I'm taking a break for a couple of weeks.

Time to rest, walk and switch off.

Rest is part of the practice too.
It's often when the body catches up with everything it's been learning.

I'll be back teaching from 26th October.
Restore Your Core® and Core Support - Movement & Connection both start again on Wednesday 28th October.

I'll be picking up messages a few times a week while I'm away 🌱

Core Support - Movement & Connection is back.

A small peer support group for women living with hypermobility and persistent pain.

It's been lovely watching our first group take shape over the last few weeks.

Each session brings gentle movement, breathwork and time to talk, shaped by what the group wants to focus on.

This time it runs as two 4-week blocks, so you can join for one or both.

Block 1: Wednesdays 28th October to 18th November
Block 2: Wednesdays 25th November to 16th December

4:00-5:30pm, Swansea Wellbeing Centre
£60 per block
Payment plans are available on request.

I just ask that you register beforehand rather than dropping in on the day.

This month I'm going back to training.

I'm repeating the Restore Your Core® professional training, which runs until February.

Why do it again?

I'm coming back with fresh eyes, a more attuned body, and two years of teaching RYC to groups.

The first time, I was taking in the method.
This time, I'm bringing the questions that come up in class every week, and the patterns I see again and again.

It's a bit like what we do in class.
The same movements, revisited with fresh attention, start to feel different.

I'll be bringing what I learn back into my classes as I go. Follow along 🌱

"How do I know if I've done too much?"

It's a question I hear a lot from people living with pain.

Especially if you've been to a class that felt fine at the time, then paid for it for the next three days.

So you start to hold back. Or you stop going altogether.

In class, we work with a different question.
Not "can I push through this?"
But "what is my body doing to get through this?"

Is the breath holding?
Is the belly gripping?
Are the shoulders lifting before the arm moves?

When we notice the extra effort, we can start to let some of it go.

That's often what makes the difference between feeling you've worked and feeling you've paid for it.

Your core isn't just for exercise class.

A responsive core quietly supports you all day.
Carrying the shopping.
Bending or reaching.
Hitting a bump in the car.

It adjusts to the load, giving you more support when you need it and less when you don't.

But when we're startled, tired or rushing, older patterns can take over.
We brace. Hold the breath. Grip more than the moment needs.

I noticed mine this week, rushing out the door, hunching my shoulders and holding my breath as I walked to the car.

Your body doesn't switch its patterns off when you leave a class.

So the practice isn't about switching your core on and off.
Over time, your body learns the best ways to support you. Replacing guarding, over-protective patterns with just the right amount of engagement for the movement.

🌱 When do you notice yourself bracing more than the moment needs?

Pain isn't just physical.

It's shaped by our nervous system, our stress levels, the patterns we move through every day.

Understanding that isn't about dismissing pain, it's the opposite.

It's about finding real, practical ways to calm the nervous system and rebuild confidence in what your body can do.

That's what sits at the heart of everything I do, including my new group Core Support - Movement & Connection, starting next week.
