Following back-to-back defeats, Swan Lanka CC entered this fixture knowing it was a must-win match to strengthen our push for a top-four finish. On another warm summer evening, BFT Blues won the toss and elected to bowl first on a batting-friendly Astro turf wicket. With the conditions heavily favouring the batters, Swan Lanka knew that a big total would be required.

Captain Azrin and Everton opened the innings with a composed start, carefully seeing off the new ball while laying a solid platform. Everton contributed 10 before being dismissed, and Shan unfortunately followed without scoring after a superb delivery from Daud.

With the innings at a crucial stage, Dilan joined Azrin and produced a calm, mature innings. The pair rebuilt the momentum with an excellent partnership, rotating the strike and punishing the loose deliveries. Azrin led from the front with a classy 49 before falling just one run short of a deserved half-century.

Dilan remained unbeaten, anchoring the innings brilliantly before Saumiya arrived and completely shifted the momentum. Playing an outstanding attacking knock, Saumiya smashed an unbeaten 57 from just 26 balls, finishing the innings in spectacular fashion. Together with Dilan’s unbeaten 44, Swan Lanka posted an imposing 198/3 in 20 overs.

💪 2nd Innings

Although 198 looked like a commanding total, everyone knew it would not be easy to defend on a pitch where Swan Lanka had successfully chased over 200 against the same opposition earlier in the season.

BFT Blues started confidently, with Amman and Nikki putting together a positive opening stand. However, Swan Lanka remained patient and disciplined, striking at crucial moments to halt the momentum. Captain Azrin’s tactical bowling changes worked perfectly, with every bowler contributing to the team’s effort in the field.

A special mention goes to Shan, who produced one of the spells of the match, conceding just 16 runs from his 4 overs while applying constant pressure. Kavishka, Irshad and Azrin each claimed an important wicket, ensuring the chase never truly got away.

With the game still requiring a composed finish, Saumiya showed his all-round class by bowling the final over and conceding just 3 runs, sealing a superb 19-run victory for Swan Lanka CC.

Saumiya produced a sensational all-round performance, scoring an unbeaten 57 from 26 balls before keeping his nerve to bowl a superb final over and secure the victory.

Special recognition also goes to Captain Azrin for leading from the front with a vital 49 and making excellent tactical decisions throughout the game, while Dilan’s unbeaten 44 provided the perfect foundation for the late onslaught.

This outstanding team performance takes Swan Lanka CC to the top of the league table heading into the final league fixture before the semi-finals. The momentum is back, and the team will now look to finish the league stage strongly before the knockout rounds.

After losing the toss, Swan Lanka CC were asked to bat first in another crucial league encounter against Swansea Spartans. Much like the previous meeting between the two sides, Swan Lanka found themselves under pressure early, losing wickets at regular intervals and struggling to build momentum on a challenging surface.

With the innings in danger of collapsing, Dilan Perera and Saumiya showed great character and composure, putting together a valuable partnership that steadied the innings. Dilan played the perfect anchor role with a well-crafted 31, while Saumiya supported brilliantly with 29. Aazim also chipped in with 17, but despite their efforts Swan Lanka could only post 119/7 from their 20 overs.

Needing 120 to win, Swansea Spartans made a positive start to the chase. However, Swan Lanka’s bowlers refused to let the game slip away easily. Every wicket brought renewed hope as the team fought hard until the very last over, keeping the contest alive with disciplined bowling and determined fielding.

A spirited bowling performance saw Swan Lanka claim 7 wickets before Spartans eventually crossed the finish line, securing victory by 3 wickets.

While the result didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, and Swan Lanka CC will regroup, work harder, and come back stronger in the remaining fixtures. Sometimes cricket reminds us why it is the greatest game of all.

Missing five regular first-team players, Swan Lanka CC entered the contest as underdogs, but what followed was a performance full of courage, determination and heart.

After losing the toss, Swan Lanka CC were invited to bat first on an uneven Astro turf under beautiful evening skies. Captain Azrin placed his faith in Everton, promoting him to open alongside the ever-consistent Aazim—a decision that proved to be inspired.

The opening pair settled the innings brilliantly, absorbing the early pressure before playing some elegant attacking cricket. Aazim continued his impressive season with a fluent 33, while Captain Azrin added a valuable 13.

Then came the Everton show.

Batting with remarkable composure, intelligence and controlled aggression, Everton anchored the innings almost from start to finish. He punished the loose deliveries, rotated the strike superbly and held the innings together as wickets fell around him. His magnificent 62 was one of his finest knocks in Swan Lanka colours, lifting the team to a competitive 150/6 from their 20 overs.

💪 2ND INNINGS

Defending 151 on an Astro surface is never easy, but Swan Lanka CC produced a disciplined and spirited display with the ball.

The bowlers stuck to their plans, the fielders backed them up with outstanding catches, and Captain Azrin marshalled his resources brilliantly. Every player gave everything for the badge, and for much of the chase Swan Lanka looked in complete control.

Aazim once again demonstrated why he has been one of the league’s standout bowlers this season, claiming 2 wickets with another outstanding spell. Azrin led from the front with 2 wickets, while Irshad chipped in with one important breakthrough.

As the game reached its dramatic conclusion, SMICC Rising Stars still required 21 runs from the final over.

Then came a breathtaking turnaround.

Muhi produced three consecutive sixes under immense pressure to sn**ch victory from the jaws of defeat and complete one of the most dramatic finishes of the season.

It was a cruel ending for Swan Lanka CC after 39 overs of hard work and commitment, but cricket has a way of producing moments that no one can predict.

With Everton’s wellbeing in mind—and with the other bowlers performing exceptionally—Captain Azrin made the decision not to use him. Leadership is not only about winning matches; it’s also about protecting your players.

Swan Lanka CC continued their outstanding campaign in the Tawe T20 Midweek League with another clinical performance, defeating Swansea Warriors by 5 wickets.

After winning the toss, Captain Azrin elected to bowl first, and his decision paid immediate dividends. Swan Lanka’s disciplined bowling attack struck early and maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings. Despite brief resistance from the Warriors’ middle order, regular breakthroughs ensured the opposition never gained any momentum.

Excellent teamwork with the ball, backed by sharp fielding, saw Swansea Warriors dismissed for 137. A special mention goes to Aazim, whose two brilliant run-outs played a crucial role in keeping the pressure on the opposition.

Played under scorching summer conditions with temperatures reaching 33°C, this was always going to be a test of endurance and character.

Swansea Strikers won the toss and elected to bat first. Looking to develop squad depth, skipper Azrin adopted a different approach with the ball, giving several part-time bowlers an opportunity to perform on the big stage. The strategy paid off as the bowlers shared the workload brilliantly, restricting Strikers to 169/7 from their 20 overs.

Chasing 170 in the intense heat was never going to be straightforward. Openers Aazim and Shan started cautiously, building a solid platform rather than taking unnecessary risks. Unfortunately, both fell in quick succession, and regular wickets made the chase increasingly difficult.

Just when the game seemed to be slipping away, Sameer provided valuable support to captain Azrin with a crucial partnership. Azrin then produced a captain’s innings of the highest quality, keeping Swan Lanka firmly in the contest.

With 18 runs needed from the final 9 balls, the match hung in the balance. However, a brilliant delivery from Uzair ended Azrin’s resistance. His outstanding knock of 67 deserved a winning finish, but the remaining batters were unable to get the team over the line.

Another dominant performance from Swan Lanka CC as we secured a convincing 9-wicket victory against SMICC Rising Stars to stay at the top of the table!

Winning the toss, Rising Stars elected to bat first on a challenging surface with a wet outfield. While bowling and fielding conditions were difficult, the slow outfield also made boundary scoring tough. Despite losing both openers for ducks, Rising Stars recovered well to post 185/7 from their 20 overs.
