Ella got on perfectly well with her previous shoes, but as we have such a wide variety of shoes available, she wanted to explore whether there might be an option that could work even better for her.

Ella particularly favoured shoes with a higher heel and longer wings, as she felt these gave her a greater sense of security and support within the shoe.

Rosie is a very strong dancer en pointe and, as a result, goes through her pointe shoes quickly. While her previous shoes worked well, they weren’t maintaining their strength for as long as she needed.

For this fitting, we stayed with a tapered shoe, as it provides Rosie with excellent support and a secure, comfortable feeling around her toes. We also selected the a shoe which has a slightly flatter profile. This gently contains Rosie’s highly mobile feet, reducing how far they travel into their end range of motion and allowing the shoe, rather than just her foot, to provide her support. Combined with a harder shank, this creates a shoe that is more durable and better able to cope with the demands of her exceptionally strong feet.

Rosie is still fully centred over the platform, and the shank supports her arch perfectly without becoming so soft that it tips her too far over the box. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the perfect combination of support, alignment, and longevity.

To all of our amazing PP customers we’re pressing pause for a little summer recharge! We will be closed from 1st of August at 3:00pm and will reopen on the 12th of August at 1:00pm. As we close our doors for a short break we want to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful customers who have supported us over the last year. From heatwaves and last minute exam purchases to competition essentials, DWC, countless pointe shoe fittings and so much more, it’s been a joy to help you every step of the way. First in, our lovely Intermediate Tappers ❤️🤍🖤

It feels wrong to interrupt what has been such an incredible week, watching so many of my beloved customers, my kids, my babies, represent their country at the Dance World Cup. But there is someone very special who deserves to be acknowledged.

Last week, we said goodbye to Abby.

When I was just 14, I was assisting in my dance school’s baby class. Even back then, I always tried to learn every child’s name. One of those names was Abigail.

Abby stayed at the dance school until I left 12 years later, meaning I had the privilege of watching her grow from a tiny little dancer into a confident, talented and beautiful young woman. After I left, Abby and her wonderful mum, Trish, continued to support Pointe Perfection for many years, even after she had moved away from Swindon.

After being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, she was told she would never dance again. She proved them wrong. She continued to dance, perform, teach, inspire and achieve more than many thought possible. Her determination was nothing short of extraordinary.

But when I think of Abby, I don’t just think of her bravery. I think of the fearless, confident little girl I first met all those years ago. I think of the kind, thoughtful, humble young woman she became. Someone who never let life’s challenges take away her love of dance or the joy she brought to others.

Abby said, “If I could tell myself six years ago everything I’ve achieved, I know she’d be incredibly proud because she felt so lost at the time.”

She would be incredibly proud. We all are.

Dance gave Abby so much throughout her life, but I know she gave just as much back to dance and to everyone lucky enough to know her.

Thank you for letting us be part of your journey from the very beginning. You will always be one of my originals, and you will never be forgotten.
