πŸ”΅πŸ”΄ FULL TIME | WALDON 4–3 BRIXHAM TOWN RES πŸ”΅πŸ”΄

What a turnaround from the lads today! After a flying start, Waldon found themselves behind at half time β€” but the second half was a completely different story. πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

We got off to the perfect start, with Luke Horsman picking up the ball and firing an absolute rocket into the bottom right corner to make it 1–0! πŸš€βš½οΈ

Then, for some reason, the lads decided they had forgotten how to play football! πŸ˜‚ Two sloppy goals gifted to the Fishermen, who went into half time with a well-deserved 2–1 lead.

The managers then delivered the team talk of their lives β€” and whatever was said clearly worked!

Waldon came flying out for the second half with a point to prove.

And up steps LUKE HORSMAN again! πŸ”₯ A vital goal to bring us back level at 2–2.

Then came the moment for our Aussie international trialist Dejan Maric πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί. Breaking the defensive line and finding himself one-on-one with the keeper, Dejan gave him the eyes, sent him the wrong way and calmly slipped it into the bottom corner.

3–2 WALDON! πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ίβš½οΈπŸ”₯

Waldon were now in full control, and some fantastic football created the fourth.

Gabriel Gillingwater showed great composure to let the ball run through his legs, setting up Jack Gilmore, who kept his cool and slipped the ball beautifully through the keeper’s legs.

4–2! πŸ’₯⚽️

Then, with the game heading towards the final whistle, Luke Horsman decided he’d already done enough damage at the right end… so he thought he’d give Brixham a helping hand. πŸ˜‚

With the Brixham right winger having apparently run every blade of grass on the pitch, Luke decided to assault him in the box and give away a penalty in the 90th minute! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚

Brixham converted from the spot to make it 4–3, with the penalty being the last kick of the game!

⭐ MOTM β€” LUKE HORSMAN ⭐

Two goals, a huge performance and somehow still finding time to give away a penalty at the end! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸΌ

A fantastic second-half response from the lads. To go into the break behind and come out with the attitude, fight and quality to turn it around shows exactly what this group is about.

The never-say-die attitude continues. πŸ”₯

πŸ”΄πŸ”΅ MATCH REPORT | WALDON 1–0 NEWTON 66 RES πŸ”΅πŸ”΄

Waldon’s first team continued their very strong pre-season campaign with another impressive performance against Newton 66 Res.

From the first whistle, Waldon started strongly and looked in control, with debutant Adam Hackett putting in a commanding midfield performance and bossing the middle of the park.

With Waldon on top, winger Tom Aldridge produced a moment of magic, firing a rocket into the top-right corner to put Waldon 1–0 ahead inside the opening 20 minutes. πŸš€βš½

At the first drinks break, Waldon made a number of changes to give everyone valuable minutes. The game then became more evenly matched, with Newton 66 managing to break through the Waldon back line on two occasions.

However, Nathan Sluman – β€˜Slu’ was equal to the challenge, pulling off two fantastic saves to keep Waldon in front. 🧀πŸ”₯

At half-time, Waldon made further substitutions to strengthen the side, and both teams continued to go head-to-head in what was becoming a fantastic pre-season battle.

Unfortunately, with around 20 minutes remaining, the referee was forced to call time on the game due to circumstances that can’t be discussed over social media.

Both teams were understandably gutted, as the football on show had been excellent from both sides.

A huge well done to the whole first-team squad for another strong performance, and we wish Newton 66 Res all the very best for the season ahead. 🀝

Coach Brian said:

β€œWhat a game today boys!
Every single player was outstanding today. The effort, attitude, teamwork and football you all played was fantastic. You worked for each other from the first minute to the last and you should all be so proud of yourselves.

Honestly, I couldn’t be prouder of every single one of you. πŸ‘πŸ»β€

πŸ”΅πŸ”΄ FULL TIME | WALDON 3–2 PAIGNTON VILLA πŸ”΅πŸ”΄

A much-changed side from our last outing today as we looked to give every player valuable minutes β€” and what a game it turned out to be!

With Jack Gilmore running a little late (and not telling anyone πŸ€«πŸ˜‚), he lost his starting spot, with Nathan Hardacre In the central of midfield coming in to take his place. Tom Aldridge and Luke Horsman kept their places in the starting XI and proved why.

After going 1–0 down, Jack Gilmore then came on for the Injured Nathan Hardacre and wanted to prove a point and so he did getting control of the midfield with Leo, the lads battled back and got the reward their effort deserved. A shot from Tom Aldridge was spilled by the Villa keeper and Luke Horsman was on hand to tap home and make it 1–1! ⚽️

At half time, another completely different XI came out as we continued to make sure everyone got a fair share of minutes.

Within the first two minutes of the second half, Liam Northcott found the net to put Waldon ahead! ⚽️πŸ”₯

Villa fought back and equalised, but after the final drinks break the managers switched things around again to make sure everyone got their minutes.

And then came the winner…

LEO DRISCOLL absolutely smashed one home to seal the win! πŸ’₯⚽️

Although some are saying it may have been an own goal… with Tom Aldridge claiming the assist! πŸ˜‚

πŸ† FINAL SCORE: WALDON 3–2 PAIGNTON VILLA

The team spirit in this side is second to none, and their never-say-die attitude will be a massive asset going into the season ahead.

A great afternoon of football, plenty of minutes in the legs and another positive step forward. πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ
