We had our first show of the season yesterday evening and it was another packed show of amateur boxing, 17 bouts in total, only 4 of ours in action with Kai, Koby and Dylan unable to box for different reasons and we had 2 winners from our 4 in some very good bouts. We started the evening with the ten bells to pay respects to the very sad passing of Dan Heggs, who passed away this week, our condolences to Dan's family and friends.
First up for us was Karl Brickland who was boxing for the first time in 8 years and up 10kg from where he originally boxed, a cracking bout between two good boxers, the win going to Karl but we felt it should have gone the other way. Next up we had Douglas Miles, in his first full bout, really good contest, we felt he did enough but it went the other way. Our Liam Brooks-Usher was up next and he lost out in his bout with a very familiar opponent, the third time these two have met, the previous 2 going in favour of Liam but this wasn't his night. Lastly Connor Brown and he boxed very well to take the win in the last bout of the evening.
Massive thank you to everyone in attendance, a huge crowd as always, to everyone from the club for helping out on the night, the support is invaluable and to all the officials, boxers and coaches who made the journey and continue to volunteer their time to our great sport a huge thank you to you all, we will see you at the next show 🥊
