A great junior training session last night for our U11s with Coach Nathan running them through some batting basics and drills, finishing up with the teams favourite end of session game - Jailbreak!

Well done to all the juniors!

Another first for Goose Green this season as our own Gary McIntyre played his first ever league game with his two sons Matthew and Josh as they made their senior debuts at the age of 13! ๐Ÿ’š

They both did amazing, with Matthew getting a wicket and Josh two superb catches, one off Matthewโ€˜s bowling! ๐Ÿ

They both have a bright future ahead of them and weโ€™re so proud we could help be part of their development ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ’š

After our first team win yesterday, we wanted to reflect on our second team game and the importance of yesterday:

Cricket really is the ultimate family and community sport.

Yesterday we had an age gap of 64 years from our oldest to youngest playing together in the same team, from three U13 players in Nathan, Josh and Matthew (both making their senior debut) right through to Mike, still going strong at 76, and Tom making his cricketing debut, proving that Goose Green provides an environment so that cricket is a game for everyone, regardless of age or experience.

The youngsters certainly made their mark, with Nathan picking up 10 runs and a wicket, Matthew a wicket and Josh taking 2 catches one from his own brothers bowling. But one of the best stories of the day came from Tom who had never played cricket before, stepping up and scoring a brilliant 9 runs on debut! I think he might have got the bug ๐Ÿ˜

Days like this remind us what amateur club cricket is all about, bringing people together, creating memories, and giving everyone the chance to be part of the beautiful game.
From first timers to lifelong cricketers, from juniors to grandparents, cricket truly is a sport for all generations. It might not have been the result we wanted, losing by six wickets, but there is always so much more to winning that makes the game we love so special ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’š

If youโ€™d be interested in playing for Goose Green, regardless of experience, reach out to us, weโ€™d love to hear from you! ๐Ÿ˜€

GREAT WIN FOR OUR FIRST TEAM

If you ever want to prove the doubters wrong who say cricket is a โ€˜boring sportโ€™, then todayโ€™s game would have proved them wrong with our first team gaining an outstanding victory by 1 wicket with just 2 balls to go against Liverpool Superkings.

Green won the toss and chose to field. Opener for Superkings, Arun Gopala hit a superb 108, with mentions to Arun Thekke 30 who helped SK to finish on 255 all out from 42.3 overs. Pick of Greens bowlers were Adam Ward 4-42 and Lee Harrison 3-60.

Green came into bat and Andy Bispham found his usual scoring form, with 33 from opening, but the day belonged to Josh Ward who carried his bat at number 3 with a sensational 137 not out to help Green over the line with just 1 wicket and 2 balls remaining!

Great win for Green who see their second win of the season added to the board. ๐Ÿ’š

After a two week break both our teams are back in action tomorrow, with both of them taking on Liverpool Superkings for the first time! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Our firsts will be at home and our second team are on the road! ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ

The last of the recent good weather is coming to an end tomorrow, so what better way to spend it than coming down to our ground, grabbing a drink and enjoying the cricket in the sun! See you there! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ ๐Ÿบ
