Never stop learning, never stop lifting !!
Determined to overcome my fear of this bloody lift and maybe one day even become half decent at it 🤣🤣 you never know !!
Massive thanks to this guy - despite all the ‘age’ jokes I have to endure - he never seems to run out of patience with me !! Great fun sharing a session with my girl Helen - just 2 perimenopausal women trying to following instructions… what could go wrong 🤣🤣
Good luck Adam Smith - Coach 🤣😛 NOVA PERFORMANCE - BARBELL CLUB

One thing I’ve had to grip onto these last few weeks … when the chips are down you go to the fu***ng gym 👊🏻 nothing keeps me more sane than throwing weight around with my favourite pit crew .summers.86 & !! Bit of a chat, with plenty of sarcasm and abuse thrown in. And the world is an ok place again.
Big thank you for all the love and messages of support 🩷 we carry on 🤗🩷

So chuffed with this today !!! Finally got over my 25k fear after a telling off from 🤣 This for me is the most frustrating lift!! But I will not give up!!
It’s so technical and the dots just haven’t been lining up - throw in an over head fear after a broke my arm, I don’t know if I told anyone I broke my elbow 🤪!!
The last video is from December and I can see things are slowly coming together !!
I’ve nearly thrown the towel in completely with the gym lately, I’m sick of being injured and feeling like I’m always going backwards, it felt like it was adding to my stress levels not helping them.
But finally today I left feeling good, if not slightly sick after the Wod 🤢 Great session today, thanks coach .summers !!

What in the fresh hormonal hell is this 😂😳 the P word has been popping up in a lot of conversations lately…. And it’s something I have fell into a rabbit hole to learn about after not feeling ‘quite like myself’ for some time now! So I might start banging on about it, and hopefully help a few people feel a little bit better! So here’s a few things I’ve learnt so far !
•You are highly likely to pick up more injuries, niggles, tendinitis… and they will hang around for bloody ages
•Hello mood swings 👋🏻 some days your rage over something minute is going to make you want to start punching people, the next day you’ll be crying over a dead bird on the side of the road
•Your blood sugars are going to make you act like a crazy person that’s never had sugar before, you will have ZERO control at the after lunch lull
•That childhood trauma you’ve been pushing down for 40 years, that’s going to run at you full speed and you will reevaluate the role everyone has in your life. Snip, snip, snip… by friends !
•Your sleep is going to completely change … literally overnight’ - disrupted sleep, too hot, exhausted all day, wired by night
•Your body is going to turn its back on you, get ready to welcome weight gain for no reason - what used to work has totally left the building
•Brain fog… I’m pretty sure I used to be able to follow instructions and finish a sentence… 😂😂 not anymore! Goodbye brain 🧠

I could literally go on and on !!! I have dialled in my routine a bit now, but I will do a separate post as I went on a bit there 😂 But I have found a few things that help.
Let me know if this helps anyone feel slightly less alone !! 🆘️

I like to video my lifts so I can see everything I am doing wrong 😂😂 also because it is really helpful to physically see it yourself! So then I can look back and see that maybe coaches make good points and I can adjust it for next time! 😜 Thanks to all the coaches at that constantly put up with my whinging !!! No better way to start the day!!

It’s an exciting day today… I can move my finger a hole 20% 🙌🏻🤣 However, this ridiculous injury has lead me to dive into more research for us 40+ girlies… despite all the other long list of issues we are dealing with I have also come to learn that the decline in estrogen levels leads to weaker ligaments and tendons!!

The pain can range from short term to chronic pain that doesn’t seem to shift for months … sometimes years 😭
Some common injuries are frozen shoulder, tendinitis particularly Achilles and plantar fasciitis!!
It’s just wall to wall fun this perimenopause business!
Here is a few things that could help you combat these issues -
• Strength train regularly
Maintain muscle, protect joints, reduce injury risk
• Support bone health
Weight-bearing exercise + enough calcium + vitamin D
• Work on balance
Single-leg exercises, yoga,
• Warm up properly
5–10 minutes before exercise to protect joints/tendons
• Prioritize recovery
More rest, better sleep, don’t ignore persistent soreness
• Manage joint stiffness
Keep moving, strengthen surrounding muscles, eat anti-inflammatory foods

Hope this information helps !
