Meet Lisa. 💛

Lisa's been a Cycall trustee for a year, bringing finance and fundraising expertise to the board — freshly retired from a career in accounting, and no stranger to charity governance. She's also a trustee at Worthing Mencap, and volunteers with Worthing Theatres.

(If Simon's name sounds familiar from our last spotlight — yes, they're married. It genuinely runs in the family.)

What drew her to Cycall?
"A small local charity where you can see a difference being made to individuals that haven't been able to access cycling before."

Ask her what she gets out of being a trustee, and it's simple:
"I love sharing my knowledge to ensure the charity can grow. I love track days and seeing happy faces."

Her standout memory? The Worthing Mencap Sports & Fun Day — and the sheer challenge of trying to get 900 people on a bike within six hours. (We're still recovering.)

A few things you wouldn't guess: Lisa was a childhood ballroom dancer, sequinned dresses and all, and played netball for Southwick Netball Club for nearly 40 years.

That's a wrap for 2026. 💛

Our season at Brooklands Park has come to a close — and what a season it's been. A new manager, a new session worker, a visit from the Mayor of Worthing, the Worthing Rotary Carnival, and countless afternoons of riders finding a bike that fits them.

Thank you to every rider, family, volunteer, and trustee who made this season what it was.

We'll be back in 2027. 🚲🌻

Meet Jenny. 💛

Jenny is Cycall's Chair of trustees — two and a half years in the role, though her story with Cycall goes back further than that.

She first came to Cycall as a rider in 2021, not long after moving to Worthing. She was transitioning to being a full-time wheelchair user at the time, and could no longer use the trikes she'd grown up riding. A friend told her about Cycall, and that's where she found her first hand-propelled trike.

"Adaptive sport has been a power for good in my life, and I want to open that up to as many disabled people as possible."

Professionally, Jenny's a solicitor specialising in mental capacity law, with 15 years in local government legal services, and previous committee experience with other adaptive sports groups — exactly the kind of governance background that helps a small charity's board do its job properly.

Ask her for a Cycall memory and she doesn't hesitate: cycling a full marathon distance around the track in July 2025, on the hottest day of the year, alongside Simon and Fred. Seven-plus hours of laps, just weeks before she took over as Chair. (She's also ridden a camel. Once. Never again.)

End of season, done properly. 🎳💛

With the 2026 season wrapped, the Cycall team swapped bike helmets for bowling shoes and had a well-earned evening out together.

No agenda, no sessions to run, no bikes to load — just the people who've spent the summer making Cycall happen, having a laugh together off the track for once.

Thank you to every rider, volunteer, trustee, and team member who made this season what it was. Roll on 2027. 🌻🚲

Meet Simon. 💛

Simon's been a Cycall trustee for two years — officially our Treasurer, unofficially the person who turns up with a spanner whenever a bike needs fixing.
Before Cycall, Simon walked the Camino de Santiago in 2019 — a 500-mile pilgrimage across Spain — and came home wanting to do more charity work. His wife spotted an advert for Cycall volunteers and mentioned it to him. Given his love of cycling, it was, in his words, "a match made in heaven." He came down for a taster session and never left.

With 35 years in finance, Simon brings serious financial know-how to the board. But ask him what he actually gets out of being a trustee, and it's simpler than that: "A lot of satisfaction. It makes the work worthwhile when I see the smiles on our users' faces when I'm down at the track."

Outside Cycall, Simon plays in a local Samba band, is a keen member of Angmering Cycling Club, works as a wedding toastmaster, and — genuinely — has written a book about his Camino de Santiago, available on Amazon.

Thank you, Simon, for two years (and counting) of spreadsheets, spanners, and showing up.

A few more moments from the Mayor's visit. 💛

Beyond the interview, there was a whole afternoon of it — Mayor Skinner chatting with the team like she'd been coming for years, having a proper go on the bikes, and finishing with a photo alongside everyone who made the day happen.

It's one thing to be chosen as a mayoral charity. It's another to have the Mayor genuinely show up, get stuck in, and spend real time with the people and riders at the heart of what we do. That's what today was.

One week ago today, we were rolling through Worthing. 🎭🚲
Cycall took part in the Worthing Rotary Carnival parade — and a week on, we're still smiling about it.

A huge thank you to Worthing Rotary for having us as part of such a brilliant local tradition. And a special thank you to our guests for the day — Worthing Mencap & Buddys and Phab Friends — who joined us on the route and made it even more special.

Thanks also to and , whose adapted bikes carried the whole team through Worthing without missing a beat. "Let's all cycle!" — never felt more true than parading through town on them.

Days like this remind us what Cycall is really about: community, partnership, and a genuinely good time, shared with people who get what we do and why it matters.

Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Steve. 💛

Steve joined the Cycall team this season — and he's already become one of the faces you'll see at Brooklands Park, helping riders get set up, matched to the right bike, and settled in for their session.

He also does one of the most underrated jobs on the team: keeping everyone fed and watered. If there's a warm drink in your hand at a Cycall session, there's a decent chance Steve made it.

Steve found his way to us after volunteering with another charity, and cycling has always been a genuine love of his — which probably explains why he settled in so naturally. And in case you're wondering what he gets up to outside Cycall: Steve has driven a car around Brands Hatch. As you do.

New to the team, already indispensable. Thank you, Steve. 🌻🚲

And that’s a wrap. 🎉🚲

The Cycall team made it from Brooklands Park to Steyne Gardens, and this was the moment everyone crossed the finish line.

Huge thanks to Worthing Rotary for having us as part of the carnival, to everyone who came out to cheer us along the route, and to the whole Cycall team who pedalled, walked, and celebrated their way through it.

What a day. 💛
