Unfortunately due to a pool lighting failure, lessons are cancelled this Sunday.

Our Jorvik Swim Academy are offering Summer Swim Sessions for swimmers who are working at Swim England Stage 6+

Rather than typical Learn to Swim sessions, these sessions are a fun, friendly and inclusive introduction to competitive swimming with Team Jorvik Swimming Club. This involves practising drills for all the strokes, turns and dives. There will also be optional racing and lots of fun and games.

🧡 The six sessions are held at Archbishop Holgate's School from 6:15-6:45 on Thursday the 27th July to Thursday the 31st August inclusive.
🖤 The sessions are taught by a Jorvik Academy Level 2 Swim Teacher and a Level 2 Team Jorvik Coach.
🧡 The cost is £40 for access to all 6 sessions.

We are pleased to announce 6 weeks of swimming lessons over the summer for children who are working at Swim England stage 6 or higher! These lessons won't be ordinary lessons, but instead they will be a fun, friendly and exciting introduction to Competitive swimming!! This will include:
🌟Drills on all strokes
🌟 Turns
🌟 Dives
🌟 Optional racing
🌟 Lots of fun and games!
🌟 Taught by a Level 2 Teacher and Level 2 Coach 🌟

Sessions will run from:
THURSDAY 27TH JULY - THURSDAY 31ST AUGUST

Just £40 for access to all 6 sessions.

Is your child interested in Competitive swimming but not sure where to start? Does your child excel in their swimming lessons?

Exciting news! We have some availability next term in our stage 7 class on Sundays at 11:45am to 12:30pm! Our stage 7 has an exceptional swimmer to teacher ratio, as well as providing a direct pathway into our Competitive swimming club Team Jorvik Swimming Club.

It's World Health Day today! We're celebrating by telling you all the fabulous health benefits of swimming!

Swimming is a whole-body workout that uses almost every muscle in the body! It improves cardiovascular fitness, strength and endurance. It has proven to reduce stress in adults and have a positive impact on mental health and well being.

In 2017, Swim England undertook research into the benefits of swimming on health. They found that:

🏊🏻‍♀️ Swimming was unique in its accessibility for people of all ages, as well as people with injuries, impairments and long-term health conditions (this is largely due to the low-impact nature of the sport)

🏊‍♂️ There is evidence that swimmers live longer!

🏊🏽‍♀️ Participation in swimming lessons can help children to develop physical, cognitive and social skills quicker

🏊🏽‍♂️ Swimming has a positive impact in a range of physical and mental health conditions including obesity, cancer, cerebral palsy, and pulmonary disease

🏊🏿‍♀️ Aquatic activity helps develop aerobic fitness, strength and balance - key components of the CMO guidelines for health

Eleanor is one of our Lead Teachers for the Academy. She helps us deliver high quality swimming lessons in York. She is a dedicated and friendly teacher with her Level 2 Swim Teacher qualification, as well as her Level 1 Assistant Coach qualification. In addition to teaching at the Academy, she helps to coach our older swimmers and works as a lifeguard too!!

She began her swimming journey as a Competitive swimmer, much like the majority of our teaching team! This means she has an in-depth understanding of proper technique and how to make swimming as efficient as possible! 🏊🏽‍♀️🏊‍♂️🏊🏻‍♀️
