✨️KINESISdance✨️ has been running for 15yrs, starting out as a single dance class for Adults in York! Since then, we have grown and developed each year, adding children's & teenager's classes, school-based PE/Curriculum Dance Provision, after-school clubs, CPD for primary school teachers, SEND Dance Provision, Wedding Dance tuition, and have given young people in York the opportunity to perform in shows & festivals! 💃We offer classes & workshops in Street, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, and most recently Acro! 🤸🏻‍♀️ We have grown our staff over the years & now have 3 teachers: Helen(me!), Janine & Claire. As well as one of our senior students who helps out as a class assistant for our younger students, and we aim to regularly upskill, train and access CPD in different areas to ensure we are delivering the highest quality of dance to our students. 📸✍️Over the next term, I will be sharing Teacher Bio's to give you a bit of background on KINESISdance teachers 😍.

We had a fantastic four days at HealthyMe Easter Holiday Club last week! 🐣🌷🐰
As always, every member of the team brought their own special set of skills to the club, meaning the young people attending got to take part in a brilliant variety of activities! There was football, hockey, netball, dance, arts & crafts, cricket, smoothie making, dodgeball, a bean bag hunt (the search for the golden beanbag!😆), and lots of team games throughout the week! ⚽️🏏🏑🏀🎨🤸🏻‍♀️🥤

Double Dance Festival this week for us! What a week!
Thursday was all about York High School, York, UK who hosted our lovely celebration of dance in schools. With the help of Andy Pope, I have been involved with organising & running this event for the last few years and it is a joy to be part of! It's so nice to see schools returning year after year, bringing bigger & better dances, as well as new schools joining in the fun for the first time! 😍💃 The variety of styles, music, costumes & ideas the groups bring with them, the faces of all the dancers as they take to the stage, the smiles as they perform & watch each other dance, clapping along, and supporting each other, makes it such an enjoyable, inclusive event! A massive thank you to teachers & school staff who help to make it happen! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Here are some highlights from the day, including my awesome York High group who always work so hard in class, and love a chance to perform (hopefully not for the last time 🤞🏼🥺) And that Finalé dance - you all smashed it! 🤩 And thanks Mr Dyson for being tech support while I was on stage!😄

Last week marked a very special week for KINESISdance...
Although I started out a few years before this with a couple of adult classes a week, & some workshops in the holidays, last week was ✨️🔟 YEARS✨️ since my very first regular children's classes launched at Orchard Park Community Centre in Huntington!
With a handful of young people who wanted to try out the new classes, and me not knowing what to expect, or if it would be a success... fast forward 10 years (a few more wrinkles, stress lines, & dodgy knees!😆) and it's an absolute joy to look at how far we've come! Classes have continued to grow, adding to the original Street & Contemporary classes with Musical Theatre, Acro & AcroSkills, & 2 fantastic teachers joining the team ( Claire Blaze & Janine Hart 🫶🏼), branching out to offer classes in primary & secondary schools in various locations across York, some amazing Summer Shows, Dance & Arts Festival performances, charity events and much, much more!

My aim with KINEISISdance has always been to celebrate dance in it's many forms, make it accessible to everyone, and give people the opportunity to shine in something they love, build confidence in young people to express themselves, be creative, active, and develop friendships that grow from a shared love of dance. 💃🤸🏻‍♀️

It's very easy as someone who is self-employed (and really self-critical) to always question if I'm doing the right thing, is it good enough, is it worth the hard work & stress that comes with running your own business... but looking back over the achievements of KINESISdance over the last 10 years, I can honestly say I'm sat here feeling quite proud. So thank you to my wonderful dance teachers who bring their own talents to our dance school, all the parents and school teachers who appreciate what we do & continue to support us, and mostly to every single student who has been part of our dance family over the last 10 years. I am immensely proud of you all! 😊🥰🤩
