Last Sunday our Newest Liv York Team Rider- Amy slayed the
Welsh dragon -that is Ironman Wales! Here is a little bit about what the impact of Liv has had on my journey:
As soon as I finished IRONMAN Barcelona I knew what was next - IRONMAN WALES. I also knew that to do it I needed a bike that would give me greater confidence and support me properly through the training and the race. That was when I started looking seriously at my options, and I am so grateful for the time, expertise and patience the team at Liv York gave me.
They helped me understand what I needed from a bike, talked me through the different options and supported me in choosing my Avow. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed, and their knowledge made such a difference in helping me feel confident that I had made the right decision. Of course, I had to give her a name, so ‘Livvy’ quickly became part of the family!
The difference Livvy made was huge. She gave me the confidence to spend more time on the bike, take on longer rides and believe that I could handle the demands of IRONMAN Wales. I went from riding an old road bike that I had barely used for years to completing 112 miles around one of the toughest Ironman courses, in incredibly challenging weather conditions. That still feels like a massive achievement.
The support from the Liv York team did not stop once I had bought the bike. They continued to give me advice, encouragement and reassurance throughout my training. That support was especially important when I had a puncture shortly before Wales. I was understandably worried, but the team helped me through it and made sure I felt prepared and confident again before race day.
Having the Avow has played such a big part in my journey, not only because of the bike itself but also because of the confidence I have gained from riding it and from knowing that I have such a supportive team behind me. Livvy helped me believe that I belonged on the bike, and that belief carried me through IRONMAN Wales.
