Bandon hosted Carrigaline United in the season opener of the U15 Division 1 League on Saturday morning.

Bandon started brightly from kick-off with some neat interchange play releasing Adam O'Mahony on the right, who hit the post in the opening minute. The home team maintained the pressure and deservedly took the lead midway through the first half with a composed finish from the tireless Cian Afonso.

Carrigaline, to their credit, battled their way back into the game and capitalised from a corner to ensure the sides were level going into the break.

Bandon had the bit between their teeth in the second half, with some excellent football on display, notably from midfielders Callum Crean, Donncha Hurley, Daragh Donlon, Adam O'Mahony and Emanuel Necula.

Carrigaline, however, were holding firm and it looked like the points would be shared until a menacing run down the left from Emanuel and a clever cut-back resulted in Donncha Hurley scoring what proved to be the winner.

A great start to the season for the lads, with solid performances across the whole team.

Special mention to the backline of Chulainn Ross, Benoît O'Gorman, TJ Crowley, Ryan Desmond (C) and Jack O'Donoghue, who, assisted by Rory Lane, Daniel O'Connell and Jack O'Sullivan, provided the platform for the team to build out from.
