It’s not every day you get to meet a world champion.
Last night I met two!

I was delighted to attend last night’s celebrations in Fermoy Rowing club for our local heroes Shane Donnellan and John Hurley who won gold in the Masters Regatta in Bled Slovenia in September.

What a fantastic achievement this was!

Fermoy Rowing club has produced many world champions over the years, world champions when there was very few being produced in Ireland. Gearoid Twohey was one I grew up admiring as he was from the same parish I grew up in, Kilworth and Araglen.

I will do everything I can to ensure that Fermoy Rowing club is able to continue operating into the future, so as to be able to continue producing inspirational champions for the youth of today and to continue providing fantastic sporting and social opportunities for all those both young and old living in the community.

Well done again Shane and John!!
An unbelievable achievement!!

I hope the celebrations went on long into the night!
