Our Desmond u15 boys had a brilliant trip to Italy last weekend! The boys travelled to beautiful Parma, where they were lucky enough to line out on the pitch at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi to welcome the players as Zebre Rugby took on Dragons in a brilliant URC clash. The boys also got in plenty of sight seeing and rugby playing over the weekend to keep them busy. This trip would not have been possible without the brilliant fundraising efforts from parents, coaches and committee members. On behalf of all involved, we would like to thank everyone who helped to raise funds with bucket collecting, donating bottles, clothes, scrap metal and much more. This was an unforgettable trip for the boys, and they are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped them get there. 🏆🏉

At Abbeyfeale RFC we are deeply saddened to learn the news of the passing of one of our founding members, Matthew (Mattie) Tobin. Mattie started playing rugby in Abbeyfeale with his friends in 1957, before Abbeyfeale RFC was even an idea. Two years later, in 1959, a meeting was held, club colours selected, committee members appointed, Munster branch contacted, and Abbeyfeale RFC came to life. Mattie was not only the first club secretary, but was also an incredibly talented athlete, representing a number of teams over the years. He captained Abbeyfeale in 1960 and went on to win the Munster Junior Cup title with Abbeyfeale in 1965. We were very lucky to have a man like Mattie as a founding member and player, and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Last week we were lucky enough to have some guest coaches at our Abbeyfeale RFC Easter Camp. Our Desmond u14 and u15 boys spent the day with Munster and Ireland players, Christian Foley, Rob Carney and Fionn Carney. The boys spent the day in the gym and on the pitch doing warm up exercises, position specific drills, and an end of day match. It was a great opportunity for our Desmond boys to get advice from Christian, Rob and Fionn, who have all achieved great things in their playing careers so far. Christian represented Desmond Rugby before moving to Young Munster, so it was great for the boys to have the chance to be coached by one of their own. We would like to thank the lads for coming in for the day, and we hope to see them around the club again in the future!

Abbeyfeale RFC would like to congratulate Cillian Pegley, who received the
Emerging Referee of the Year award! We are incredibly proud to see one of our own continuing to make such a positive impact on the game. From representing the club on the pitch to now excelling as an official, this is a fantastic achievement and a testament to his dedication, passion, and hard work.

Everyone at the club is delighted for you, Cillian — very well deserved, and we can’t wait to see what comes next. Congratulations once again!

Abbeyfeale RFC would like to congratulate 5 of our Desmond u15 boys on their selection to take part in the u16 Munster Rugby Summer Programme. These boys went through three rounds of trials and screenings to come to this point, and have all been successful in selection. Well done to Kane Brouder, Jack Leahy, Brendan McAuliffe, Eoghan Kiely, and Conor Mullenger. This is a massive accomplishment, and something for the boys to be very proud of! 🏉⭐️
