We started the game on the back foot today and struggled to get out of our own half for the opening 10-15minutes, and found ourselves one down from the games first corner which we didnt defend well, a scramble in the box that was finished into the roof of the net. Things got worse when Thomas Power picked up an injury and had to leave the field, in a game against bigger opposition that gave us no time on the ball, we missed his strength physicality. We went 2 down moments later after a mix up between defence and keeper, their player nipping in to make it 2 nil. We grew into the half as the game went on, with conor Fleming involved in a lot of our good play. 2-0 ht.

The second half was more of how the first half finished, we had a lot of defending to do with Jake Foley immense at the back. We conceded another but we didn't let our heads drop, we kept going and found the net mid way through the second half. Joey Troy picked up the ball and with some great vision found conor whelan who shimmied, gave it in to Nathan Choi who squared it to Sean Pierce who struck the ball over the keeper from outside the box. Super play from those 4 lads. It wasn't enough get us back into the contest as our opponents put it to bed when they added a 4th. Overall some good moments and some very good individual preformances, but another game to look back on where we can do better.

Sean Pierce ⚽ ( A - Nathan Choi)
MOTM - Jake Foley

A beautiful sunny morning in Park Rangers, the top pitch in perfect condition, so the scene was set perfectly for the 10.30 kick off!

The Park Rangers lads started in a blaze and took complete control of the match from the off. They looked very comfortable on the ball and were competing and winning first and second balls at almost every contest.

It didn’t take long for the pressure to pay off and Louie Mason found Luke Kelly, who made himself some space and confidently picked off the first goal.

Steyn and Evan were really busy on the right wing from the go, and it paid off when Evan picked off a superb through ball which Steyn ran onto and slotted it into the corner of the net, Park Rangers 2-0 up!

Full credit to St. Joseph’s they kept going and pulled themselves back into the match and put the PR lads under a lot of pressure as the half came to a close. The Joseph’s pressure told and their number 9 got one back for the visitors, a really well taken goal.

Second half started as the first half had, with PR taking back control of the match. We were delighted to welcome Kyle Tuohy and Luke Deasy back into the squad after a few week out and their fresh legs set the pace for the second half. 5 minutes in Tom Purcell picked out a ball for Louie and Louie made no mistake in getting our third, and his first of the game. Louie was relentless throughout, he drove the St. Joseph’s defence to torment all day, with endless runs, some great combination play and then he stepped up for his Troy Parrott moment. Louie took on the full Joseph’s back line, gliding past defenders and coolly slotting the ball home to claim his second of the day! A MOTM performance by Louie not just for his goal contributions but his relentless work all day 👏👏👏

St Joseph’s keep the pressure on us all game and got their second through a really well taken penalty. Full credit to them as it was a super competitive game and they kept pulling themselves back into the match through their hard work and endeavour.

The Park Rangers lads as a team unit were excellent out their today and we could’ve handed out multiple MOTM awards. Right down the spine of the pitch Ben Hayes, Daragh Hegarty and Tom Purcell were fantastic and set the tone and direction for the match. But all 14 PR players out their today were excellent 👏👏👏

This group has worked really hard for the last few months, right through the summer months and through preseason and this morning it all came together, hugely deserved, well done lads 👏👏👏👏
